The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro suspends board member Mosaad Rawash
Mosaad Rawash suspended ICM Board
Member at MAS Camp in 2006
Yesterday, we posted a story about allegations by Congressional candidate, Lou Ann Zelenik, that Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM) board member Mosaad Rawash was accused of being a supporter of Hamas and “violent Jihad and martyrdom of Palestinians fighting against Israel.”
As revealed in our Iconoclast post, those accusations were the results of investigations of Rawash’s MySpace page by Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project. Emerson told us tonight that he will be interviewed on Fox Radio Wednesday morning regarding controversial Mosques at ‘ground zero’ in lower Manhattan, Staten Island and Murfreesboro. Our report was in the context of tomorrow’s dueling community protests and counter protests about the controversial approval of the ICM expansion project by the Rutherford County Planning Commission (RCPC).
The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro was made aware of the allegations against Mr. Mosaad Rawash, a current board member at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. Mr. Rowash is being suspended pending further investigation about these allegations; a proper action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro as a religious, non political organization does not support any radical views of any kind by any individual or group.
Sincerely,
Islamic Center Of Murfreesboro
Jay Heine, Zelenik’s campaign manager believes this late breaking development lends credibility to her charges of a radical agenda supporting terrorism by a board member of the ICM. He indicated that it is likely Ms. Zelenik will now request investigations by the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation of alleged death threats against her.
The news of the ICM suspension of board member Rawash coming on the cusp of a planned community protest should bolster for march led by organizer Kevin Fisher. He and others are calling for petitions to the RCPC to re-open hearings on the ICM expansion plan approval.
This stunning development adds credibility to Zelenik’s anti-Sharia campaign platform. This sharpens the contrast of her position in support of community concerns versus her opponents’ support of the ICM expansion.
