The Muslim American Society (MAS) was created as a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in America, and continues to serve that function today, a man who once was one of the most influential Muslim political leaders testified in a Virginia courtroom Wednesday.
"Everyone knows that MAS is the Muslim Brotherhood," Abdurrahman Alamoudi told federal investigators in a January interview from a federal correctional facility. On the witness stand, Alamoudi claimed not to remember everything he said, but accepted that he had made the statement after government lawyers showed him records of the interview.
Alamoudi promised "to testify truthfully and completely at any grand juries, trials or other proceedings in the United States" as part of a 2004 guilty plea. He admitted engaging in illegal transactions with Libya and facilitating a Libyan plot to assassinate then-Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah.
His testimony Wednesday came as part of a civil suit brought by Jamal Abusamhadaneh against the government demanding he be naturalized as an American citizen. His application was denied after officials learned he lied about being associated with the Muslim American Society, failing to disclose the association on his naturalization application. In a subsequent interview, an immigration official further pressed him to reveal his connection to MAS or the Brotherhood, but he repeatedly denied ties to each.
Alamoudi, who had signed a work visa for Abusamhadaneh, was the original source for information about the plaintiff's Brotherhood ties. Abusamhadaneh claims he was following the advice of his attorney at the time, Ashraf Nubani, who told him affiliations with religious organizations do not need to be disclosed to the government. He also says he never was a dues paying MAS member, although he acknowledges attending many of the organization's events.
Nubani testified that neither the Muslim Brotherhood nor MAS were political organizations, so he didn't think his client had any reason to disclose such ties, were they to exist. Rather, he claimed that both organizations were simply non-violent religious organizations that believed "Islam should not be confined to one aspect of life" and "in Islam church and state aren't separate."
Alamoudi at times appeared reluctant to answer questions during his testimony, despite his cooperation pledge. Last summer, a judge reduced his 23-year prison sentence by six years, apparently due to cooperation Alamoudi previously provided. Court papers related to that sentencing reduction remain under seal.
He nodded and waved at members of the Muslim community in the courtroom gallery who were supporting Abusamhadaneh. As he left the courtroom, he called out "As-Salaam Aleikum," or "Peace be unto you." Some in the gallery responded, "Wa-Alaikum-Salaam," or "Wa-Alaikum-Salaam."
His disclosure about MAS is not new. Some MAS officials admitted as much in a 2004 Chicago Tribunearticle. And prosecutors wrote in 2008 that "MAS was founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America."
In the Hamas-support prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, investigators found a telephone book listing the names and numbers of the Muslim Brotherhood leadership in the United States. "Members of the Board of Directors" appeared on the first page with 15 names. Among those names are Ahmad Elkadi, Jamal Badawi, and Omar Soubani: MAS's founding incorporators.
But Alamoudi's testimony is significant because he acknowledges being part of the Brotherhood and was active when MAS was formed in 1993. In addition, MAS officials have claimed that they may have had roots in the Brotherhood, but those dissipated over time.
It is believed to be his first courtroom testimony since promising to cooperate, although he was brought to Tampa in 2005 during the prosecution of Palestinian Islamic Jihad board member Sami Al-Arian. Alamoudi was not called during the case.
He apparently told prosecutors that Al-Arian's prominent role in Islamic Jihad was common knowledge in Islamist circles.
Alamoudi led the American Muslim Council and enjoyed political clout that led him to be courted by Democrats and Republicans in Washington, including the White House. But his support for jihad was on public display in 2000. During a rally in Lafayette Park across the street from the White House, he defiantly expressed his support for Hamas and Hizballah.
Four years earlier, he told a conference that Arabs in the United States should not pray for Allah to destroy the country. Rather, they needed to be less confrontational. "There is nowhere for Muslims to be violent in America, no where at all. We have other means to do it. You can be violent anywhere else but in America."
Angry Moroccans are demanding a change to the country's strict Islamic penal code after a 16-year-old girl killed herself after being forced to marry her rapist. An online petition, a Facebook page and countless tweets expressed horror over the suicide of Amina Filali, who swallowed rat poison on Saturday in protest at her marriage to the man who raped her a year earlier.
Article 475 of the Moroccan penal code allows for the 'kidnapper' of a minor to marry his victim to escape prosecution, and it has been used to justify a traditional practice of making a rapist marry his victim to preserve the honour of the woman's family.
'Amina, 16, was triply violated, by her rapist, by tradition and by Article 475 of the Moroccan law,' tweeted activist Abadila Maaelaynine.
Abdelaziz Nouaydi, who runs the Adala Assocation for legal reform, said a judge can recommend marriage only in the case of agreement by the victim and both families. 'It is not something that happens a great deal - it is very rare,' he said, but admitted that the family of the victim sometimes agrees out of fear that she won't be able to find a husband if it is known she was raped.
The marriage is then pushed on the victim by the families to avoid scandal, said Fouzia Assouli, president of Democratic League for Women's Rights. 'It is unfortunately a recurring phenomenon,' she said. 'We have been asking for years for the cancellation of Article 475 of the penal code which allows the rapist to escape justice.'
The victim's father said in an interview with an online Moroccan newspaper that it was the court officials who suggested from the beginning the marriage option when they reported the rape. 'The prosecutor advised my daughter to marry, he said 'go and make the marriage contract'," said Lahcen Filali
In cases of rape, the burden of proof is often on the victim and if she can't prove she was attacked, a woman risks being prosecuted for debauchery.
'In Morocco, the law protects public morality but not the individual,' said Assouli, adding that legislation outlawing all forms of violence against women, including rape within marriage, has been stuck in the government since 2006.
According to the father's interview, the girl was accosted on the street and raped when she was 15, but it was two months before she told her parents. He said the court pushed the marriage, even though the perpetrator initially refused. He only consented when faced with prosecution. The penalty for rape is between five and 10 years in prison, but rises to 10 to 20 in the case of a minor.
He said Amina complained to her mother that her husband was beating her repeatedly during the five months of marriage but that her mother counselled patience.
More than 3,000 leaflets were delivered to homes in West Ham last week by campaigners opposed to plans for a permanent mosque at the Riverine Centre.
Muslim group Tablighi Jama’at will submit plans in time for the Olympic Games for the 9,500 capacity religious building with 40ft minarets, a visitors centre, a library and a 300-space car park in Canning Road.
Opponents have attempted to steal a march on the group’s trustees by starting a ‘Say No to Mega Mosque’ website, and have claimed it will create a Muslim “ghetto” in West Ham.
But worshippers have said the mosque will welcome people from all faiths and have challenged campaigners to a debate. The site is already home to a temporary mosque, which survived an attempt by Newham Council in 2010 to remove it on the basis of increased traffic. If built, the Riverine Centre will be made up of five spaces, featuring nature trails, retail units and public access to West Ham tube station.
Worshipper Yusef Islam, who also had a hand in putting together the proposals, said the mosque is likely to become more popular in the next 10 to 15 years. He said: “It is a large site so the mosque is not taking up the entire area. It will be for the Muslim community but the visitor centre will be open for anybody to ask questions. You’ll see on Friday during Jumah prayers the mosque is absolutely jam packed, with people forced to pray outside.
“If certain people have concerns the door is always open and we are more than happy to meet and discuss in depth our proposals for this scheme.”
They always say that, but they failed to properly advertise the open day in 2009, failed to keep people informed after that open day, failed to hold a follow up day as promised, then failed to publicise the last exhibition in January, or present a welcoming atmosphere to any potential visitors who arrived that weekend.
And as for 'worshipping outside' that isn't because of space considerations, that is to publicly declare territory.
SIR Terry Pratchett has said the Government makes sufferers from Alzheimer’s disease feel like malingerers, as if it believed that they did not suffer from a real disease. While i can well under- stand his frustration i do not think what he said is quite accurate.
Alzheimer’s disease is probably the most feared illness of old age for it seems to rob us of what is most essential about us: our capacity to live a self-directed life. The older someone is the more likely he or she is to have Alzheimer’s and it creeps up on you like a thief in the night, gradually and at first imperceptibly. You know something is wrong but not exactly what it is.
It can take a long time for anyone else to recognise it. Not realising that you are ill younger people may be impatient with your forgetfulness as if it were wilful. They ascribe blame where compassion would be more in order.
Even when the disease has been diagnosed many have difficulty in fully accepting that an old person’s behaviour or loss of memory is involuntary. With the best will in the world and a determination to be patient and understanding it is frustrating to be asked the very same question by someone several times an hour.
Surely we cannot help but think our aged relation could do better with a little more effort? Even when we know this to be nonsense we still think it and this is because we consider the person with Alzheimer’s not as he or she is now but as he or she once was, that is to say fully alert and in possession of his or her mental faculties. We do not make the allowances that we should, at least not all the time.
THESE are human failings, not govern- mental ones. Better knowledge and awareness of Alzheimer’s might help but they will not by themselves ensure that understanding will be extended to every patient who suffers from the disease.
Sir Terry makes another important point, however: that when patients with Alzheimer’s disease, through no fault of their own, need to be cared for in a home they are made to pay for it by the liquidation of their savings or the sale of their house. And since they have contributed taxes throughout their working lives this is unfair and discriminatory.
The promise of the welfare state was that in return for high taxation everyone would be looked after from cradle to grave but this has turned out to be like a worthless insurance policy that covers you for every- thing except that which actually does happen to you.
Strictly speaking people with Alzheimer’s disease are not discriminated against: the same financial conditions apply to every old person who is admitted to a home for what- ever reason. But there is no doubt that a promise that turned out to be false was issued by successive governments. People were given the distinct impression that they need not make provision for a personal catastrophe such as Alzheimer’s because everything would be taken care of by the state.
Indeed the high taxation throughout their lives prevented them from being able to make provision for such a catastrophe even if they had wanted to. They were left with the worst of both worlds, neither insurance nor the means to pay for their own care except with the one asset that it took them their whole lives to accumulate, namely their house. No wonder there is a sense of injustice.
When the cradle-to-grave promise was made the government had no idea that within a few decades people would be living as long as they now do and that there would be so many people, many of them with Alzheimer’s, in need of care.
The old age pension was started on the premise that most people would not live long enough to draw it and therefore a pay-as-you-go system might even be profitable to the government.
The cradle-to-grave promise was easy enough to make and keep when the grave was not as many years removed from the cradle as it is now. Where governments have been culpable is in continuing to pretend to keep old promises when they knew that they could not do so.
WE SHOULD not be too gloomy, however. Old age is not Alzheimer's and nothing else.
It is true that more people than ever are living to the age at which they are most at risk of developing Alzheimer’s and there are more patients with it than ever before. Treatment is not yet very effective and we don’t even know how to prevent it.
A recent paper in the British Medical Journal suggested that education, general knowledge and a diet richer in fruit and vegetables had reduced rates of Alzheimer’s but this does not mean that knowing more or eating more fruit actually prevents Alzheimer’s.
But as we live longer lives so we also live healthier ones. old people are more active than they used to be.
The average 70-year-old now is probably as energetic and fit as a 60-year-old was 20 or 30 years ago and he in turn was fitter than his predecessor. it is not only life that has been extended but a healthy life.
Furthermore it is still true that the majority of old people are looked after, when necessary, by their close relatives.
No doctor can fail to have been moved by the noble and indeed heroic attempts of many families to look after their elderly. like most glasses that are half-empty the glass of old age is half-full as well.
A woman was arrested in London yesterday as part of an investigation in to an alleged plot to blow up an Italian synagogue. The 40-year-old terror suspect, believed to be Yemeni but living in London, was being questioned after allegedly posting extremist material on a Facebook account.
It came as police in Italy arrested a 20-year-old Moroccan Mohamed Jarmoune who was allegedly behind a “super-secret” Facebook plot to target the Via della Guastalla in Milan. The woman, from south London, was not thought to be directly involved in the plot but Italian police said she had been in regular contact with Jarmoune online.
Metal worker Jarmoune was arrested in Brescia, northern Italy following months of undercover detective work that involved monitoring a secret Facebook account. Officers took away several items including his computer as well as several Nazi flags that were found in the apartment which was in the centre of city and which has been the scene of several anti terror investigations in the past.
Police said Jarmoune had lived in Italy since he was six years old but he had ''come across their radar'' as part of another investigation and when they began investigating his background discovered he had been looking at several Islamic extremist websites. He had downloaded images of the synagogue and other information such as security measures and officers also discovered a pencil diagram appearing to show a series of four gas canisters connected to a battery which was also linked to a mobile telephone, while other images showed the preparation of explosives.
The woman was held under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act on suspicion of "possessing a document or record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism." Searches were last night ongoing at her home.
As in Malmo, Rosengard, the Banlieues, So Also In Jerusalem: Muslims Throw Rocks at Non-Muslim Emergency Vehicles
This particular Muslim attack on non-Muslims took place at the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem, Israel, on Saturday 10 March 2012. I am including it not only as an example of what Israel has to put up with - daily, weekly, monthly, yearly - from their Arab Muslim Fifth Column, but also for the benefit of our British and European readers, who may like to compare the details of the case with the kinds of things that are happening in and around the Muslim colonies that have been recently established in Scandinavia, France, Britain and elsewhere in the non-Muslim world.
As reported by Melanie Lidman of the Jerusalem Post.
'Stones thrown at firemen called to Mount of Olives.
Or, in other words, 'Mount of Olives: Arab Muslims Stone Jewish Firemen' - CM
'Incident including Arab stone throwers (i.e., Arab Muslim stone throwers - CM) follows ongoing deterioration of security situation.
'Firefighters who attempted to put out a dumpster fire were attacked on Saturday on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem (in Jerusalem - CM), another stone-throwing attack in a series of incidents at the cemetery.
'According to Jerusalem firefighter spokesman Asaf Abras, after a number of people (sic: Arab Muslims - CM) started throwing rocks, the firefighters tried to reverse their direction, but the "rain of stones" continued while a crowd formed at the scene.
This doesn't sound to me like a spontaneous incident. This looks to me like the dumpster fire was started deliberately in order to draw the fire truck into a pre-set ambush; and it also seems likely that wheelbarrow-loads or skip-loads of rocks had been 'planted' at the location beforehand, all ready to throw. - CM
'Firefighters left the scene after the rocks smashed the windshield and other rocks damaged the sides of the firetruck. The firefighters filed a complaint of the incident with security forces.
'Abras told the Jerusalem Post that when the security situation is unstable (that is, when the call for Jihad has been revved up and the Gazan Muslims are firing more rockets than usual at Jews inside Israel - CM) firefighters sometimes will face violence when responding to calls in East Jerusalem (that is, in the heavily Muslim-occupied Old City - CM), including attempts to damage the firetrucks, puncture the tires, or attack firefighters.
'In January, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Ahronovitch announced that Jerusalem police would open a new police station on the Mount of Olives with 25 police officers in mid-February.
An IDF base would be better. - CM
'The police station will not open until the end of March at the earliest, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said on Saturday.
'A recent Knesset hearing two weeks ago focused on the deteriorating security system at the Mount of Olives, which has seen a number of attacks in recent months.
That last clause should read, "where in recent months Arab Muslims have repeatedly attacked Jews." - CM
'On February 24 Malcolm Hoenlein, head of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, visited the cemetery with US Congressmen Eliot Engel (Democrat - New York) and Jerrold Nadler (Democrat - New York). A large rock was thrown at the group as it examined some of the recently vandalised graves, though no-one was injured.
I am very tired of the continual use of the passive voice in news reports about Mohammedan mayhem. That last sentence should have read, "An Arab Muslim threw a large rock at the Jewish visitors as they examined some of the graves recently vandalised by local Arab Muslims. Luckily no-one was injured."
Thus, the Jerusalem Post report.
They were open for Comments, and a number of people responded. I will reproduce here a selection of the best. Unhappy Scandinavian, British and French Infidels who have observed similar Mohammedan mayhem growing ever bolder and more destructive in their own countries, may recognise their own frustration in the voices of these Jews and Jewish Israelis.
Elisheva remarked - "Since "firefighters sometimes will face violence when responding to calls in east Jerusalem, including attempts to damage the firetrucks, puncture the tires, or attack firefighters", I say, let East Jerusalem burn."
J Rebecca has a nasty suspicious mind to equal my own - "Was the fire started to draw in the fire engines to where the rock throwers were waiting?" - and a very practical suggestion for next time it happens, "If this is what is happening let's use aerial fire fighting, drenching the fire and all those lying in wait for the fire services". (Firemen in Rosengard, Malmo, and the banlieues, are you listening? - this could be a plan. - CM)
'Magic Man in the Sky' also had a practical suggestion, 'Hit the stone throwers with high pressure fire hoses...that should dampen their ardour".
'Brakha-blogspot-com' said, 'Arrest stone-throwers for attempted murder'.
'Kanswa' stated the obvious(which is, it must be said, true for the many other countries besides Israel that are currently afflicted with large, hostile, expanding, and ever-more-violently destructive colonies of Mohammedan Fifth Columnists) - 'Leaving these terrorists (that is, Arab Muslim jihadists - CM) inside your borders is suicidal. At least push them outside your national borders so the army can deal with them on the other side of the border. This will leave your civilians in peace. Constant attacks from Mt of Olives, Gaza, Northern Israel, East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria are intolerable. Permanently move terror groups out of these areas or you'll continue endless conflict inside your country.:
'Detroit Voice' observed sadly, "Jew-hating, Israel-hating gangs [he should have written: Jew-hating Israel-hating Muslim gangs - CM] now control the world's most historic Jewish cemetery in the heart of the Jewish capital of the Jewish state. Shameful".
Israel Electric Begins Secure Energy Independence with Noble Energy. Inc. and Partners Gas Deal
Noble Emergy, Inc. Levant Basin Gas Fields Map
Noble Energy, Inc. (NBL-NYSE) of Houston, Texas announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement with Israel Electric Corporation Ltd. to supply more than 2.7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas from offshore fields in the Levant basin. The term of the agreement is for 15 years with options for expansion to over 3.5 Tcf. This should assure Israel of a secure energy future independent of supplies from Egyptian fields in the Sinai. The Egyptian Sinai pipeline that currently supplies natural gas to Israel has been plagued by terrorist sabotage disrupting gas transmission to both Israel and Jordan. As Globes Israel Business reported the Egyptian pipeline has been hit more than 13 times, most recently in early March, 2012. We have noted how significant a game changer the offshore energy development will be for Israel in an NER article, “Will Israel Win the Energy Prize in the Levant Basin”. It has already lead to a geo resource development partnership with the Republic of Cyprus and potentially Greece regarding creation of LNG processing facilities and pipelines for delivery of natural gas to the large EU markets. In late February, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced the creation of a Sovereign Wealth Fund based on anticipated royalties from Israel’s significant energy developments both off shore in its exclusive economic zone and on shore in the oil shale rich Shelfla basin. See our NER article, “Israel’s Black Gold: An Interview with Scott Nguyen”.
The following is the text of the Noble Energy, Inc. news release:
HOUSTON, March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Noble Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NBL) announced today that it and its partners in the Tamar field have signed a gas sales agreement to sell natural gas from the Tamar field, offshore Israel, to Israel Electric Corporation Limited (IEC). Under the 15-year agreement, IEC is expected to purchase approximately 2.7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas as fuel to provide electricity to the state of Israel and retains, under certain conditions, an option to expand the agreement quantity to approximately 3.5 Tcf.
Although actual revenue will be dependent upon purchased quantities and prices at the time of sale, the estimated total revenue for the 15-year period is $18 billion in the event IEC does not exercise its option and $23 billion if the option is exercised. The gas price formula includes a base price and is indexed mainly to the US Consumer Price Index. The agreement is subject to final government approval, which is expected.
"We look forward to the start-up of gas deliveries from the Tamar field to meet the needs of the state of Israel," said Charles D. Davidson, Noble Energy's Chairman and CEO. "This clean burning fuel will reduce emissions and lower the cost of power generation. Tamar is on schedule to begin commissioning late this year with initial gas deliveries expected in April 2013."
As a result of this and previously announced agreements, the Tamar partners have sales agreements for natural gas quantities in the range of 3.9 to 4.7 Tcf with six different customers, resulting in estimated total revenues between $27 billion and $32 billion over a 15 to 17 year period.
Noble Energy operates Tamar with a 36 percent working interest. Other owners are Isramco Negev 2 with 28.75 percent, Delek Drilling with 15.625 percent, Avner Oil Exploration with 15.625 percent, and Dor Gas Exploration with the remaining four percent.
Sydney, Australia: Two Muslim Men and one Non-Muslim Smuggled Guns Into Australia
The non-Muslim was the owner of the Sylvania Waters Post Office through which the consignments of weapons were being funnelled. As you will see from one of the news reports, his name is 'Andrew Botros', which suggests a Coptic background. One wonders whether he was a common-or-garden crook - whose criminal activity, let it be emphasised, the Christian faith of his community of origin would in no way prescribe, condone or encourage - or whether the Muslims with whom he was involved (whose 'religion', of course, is entirely unconcerned about criminal activities so long as they involve harming the dirty kuffar) had gotten some kind of hold over him. There was another case some time ago, also in Sydney, Australia, in which passport fraud was being conducted from a post office. The fraud was run by two women, one non-Muslim and one a Muslim, the former being an Australia Post employee. I never did hear which of the two was the brains of the scheme, and when and how it was set up, and how many of the 'customers' were Muslims whose illegal entry into or exit from Australia was being thus facilitated.
Anyway, back to our gun smugglers, first as reported in the Sydney Morning Herald.
'Police allege a Sydney-based syndicate had imported up to 220 illegal hand-guns since late last year.
'NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione told a press conference today that "gun crime is in our sights" but he conceded many other syndicates could be operating in Sydney.
'Three people have been charged after Australian and German detectives smashed an international gun smuggling syndicate alleged to have been run, at least in part, from a suburban Sydney post office.
'Police raided 11 properties in Sydney yesterday morning, including Sylvania Waters post office, in the city's south, eight homes and an import business. They arrested three men, including a 30 year old post office licensee, a 21 year old worker at the import business, and a 27 year old telecommunications technician.
'The men were charged with a raft of offences including supplying firearms, aggravated possession of firearms, and participating in a criminal group.
'All were refused bail and are due to appear at Burwood and Sutherland local courts today.
'It's alleged the trio were part of a syndicate importing Glock pistols from Austria via a gun dealership in Remscheid, West Germany, using falsified documents.
'Police began an investigation [of the] operation in February, after tracing guns found in Sydney, including a Glock linked to a shooting in Campsie in late January, to a batch made in Austria. The weapons were traced to the German gun dealership, which is alleged to have imported them to Australia using false consignment data.
'Sylvania Waters post office is alleged to have been the end destination for the guns before they were distributed to bikie and Middle Eastern gangs across the city.
Muslims have joined and are strongly present within at least one and possibly more of the outlaw bikie gangs in Australia, in some cases at leadership level; as for 'Middle Eastern' gangs, this is code for 'Middle Eastern Muslim gangs'. - CM
"We will be alleging these guns were being imported specifically for use by criminals, including outlaw motorcycle gang members and those in Middle Eastern organised crime groups", NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said in a statement...
'A fourth person, a 28 year old woman, was also arrested in Sydney and was being questioned last night.
'German detectives arrested a man in connection with the investigation after raiding a number of properties in Remscheid yesterday and seizing a number of documents and parcels.
'Detectives involved in the Sydney raids also seized a parcel containing 140 Glock magazines, seven firearms, ammunition, drugs and computer equipment".
Now, for the all-too-revealing names of the smugglers, you must read right to the end of this ABC report:
'Customs officials have conceded a huge haul of illegally imported handguns in Sydney has exposed vulnerabilites in their systems.
'Police pounced on the syndicate yesterday and arrested four people in Sydney, including the franchisee of the Sylvania Waters Post Office.
'They believe the ring has imported between 160 and 220 Glock pistols by air freight since last year, including some linked to recent Sydney shootings.
'Detectives say the Austrian-made guns were sold to a firearms dealership in Germany and then illegally brought to Australia...
'Customs and Border Protectiion Service chief executive Michael Carmody says the case shows procedures need to be changed.
"Last year we detected about 2,000 illegal hand-guns, accessories, and the like. I think the issue with this is that increasingly the methodologies are sophisticated", he said. "It's only when we can get details of the business models, some intelligence on the methodologies, that we can actually guarantee interception. They (the guns) were ordered in an apparently legal and appropriate way, and made their way through a number of points overseas, obviously with mislabelling".
'New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell says the case shows the system has failed.
"it's time the Federal Government stopped burying its head in the sand about the porous nature of our borders and our customs service", Mr O'Farrell told State Parliament.
'Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott blamed the Federal Government's border protection policies for what he described as a "reign of terror" on Sydney's streets.
He should have taken aim at our immigration policies instead; in particular, our continuing importation of large numbers of hostile and inassimilable Muslims. - CM
'Mr Abbott interrupted Question Time to accuse the Government of not doing enough to stop illegal guns hitting the streets....
"But Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare says stopping the importation of illegal guns is his top priority...
Stopping the importation of Muslims should be his top priority. No more Muslims would mean fewer recruits for the 'Middle Eastern organised crime gangs' - for despite the presence of one person with a Coptic-sounding name in this particular case, the membership of these 'Middle Eastern' gangs is overwhelmingly Muslim. - CM
'Police say they have so far traced one of the imported handguns to a shooting at Wiley Park in January and another to an organised crime figure.
'Acting Assistant Commissioner Mal Lanyon says gun smuggling is feeding Sydney's wave of gun crime.
"I think there's irrefutable evidence that a number of the firearms that have been used by organised crime groups and individuals that engage in organised crime are imported", he said.
"Handguns are not manufactured in Australia and it's very clear that handguns are the preferred choice of organised crime because of their concealability, because of their transportability, their ability to be passed around other criminals".
'Sylvania Waters Post Office franchisee Andrew Botros faced Sutherland Lcoal Court today on charges including supplying firearms. The 30 year old did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
'Court documetns show Botros is also accused of defrauding Australia Post.
'The police documents allege he stole three bags of mail and defrauded Australia Post of more than $37,000.
'Another alleged ringleader, 27 year old telecommunications technician Khoder El Ali, was also refused bail when he faced Burwood Local Court. A third man, Ahmed Karnib, 21, also had his bail application refused.
'Police allege the freight-forwarding agent (that is, Ahmed Karnib, I assume - CM) signed for 10 of the 20 consignments received, and also communicated in code with his two co-accused about a package being tampered with.
'Outside court, Karnib's lawyer Elias Tabchouri maintained his client was an innocent conduit with no idea what was in the packages.
"My client is not allowed to open these packages, he's authorised to sign on behalf of his client and in fact what he did was nothing other than what is usual common practice", he said...
Well, we'll wait and see what the police have got on him... - CM
'Nancy Yacco, 28 (I wonder which of the three men she was involved with? - CM) was also arrested during yesterday's operation and charged with the lesser offence of gun possession.
'She was refused bail, with the case to return to court tomorrow."
So we have one - probably non-Muslim - woman, a Post Office owner with what looks like a Coptic name, and then we have Messrs Khoder El Ali and Ahmed Karnib, whose names certainly seem to suggest to me a Muslim rather than a Christian cultural background. And they have been bringing illegal guns into Australia, for - among other things - 'Middle Eastern organised crime gangs' (who, we know, are primarily comprised of Muslims, from Lebanon and elsewhere).
This case promises to be ...interesting. I would very much like to find out what the relationship is, precisely, between Mr Botros at the Post Office, and Messrs Karnib and El Ali.
And if I were the police in Sydney, and Melbourne, and perhaps even in other places, I would check all the Post Offices, especially those in suburbs heavily populated with Muslims, and look for franchisees - and other Post Office employees as well - with names suggesting an origin within Dar Al Islam, and go through the operations and finances of those post offices with a fine-tooth comb. Franchisees and employees like our crooked Mr Botros, who were non-Muslim but from within Muslim countries - Hindus from Pakistan or Bangladesh or Malaysia or Indonesia, Copts, Maronites, Assyrians - would alas have to be scrutinised, for life in dar al Islam can teach people a lot of very bad habits; and there is also the possibility that such people (especially if they have close kin still remaining in Muslim lands) might be intimidated , threatened, blackmailed and manipulated by Muslims, who do not like to see former dhimmis escaped from dhimmitude and naturally see them as potential tools. It is high time, too, that Muslims employed anywhere within Immigration, Transportation (airports and ports in particular) and Customs came under scrutiny.
