It is quite common to hear two arguments from Muslims and apologists of Islam, the language argument, and that old standby of crooked, lying politicians, “you have quoted out of context.”

Let us look at the language argument first. You are asked aggressively, ‘do you know Arabic?’ Then you are told triumphantly, ‘You have to read it in the original Arabic to understand it fully’. Christians, even Western freethinkers and atheists are usually reduced to sullen silence with these Muslim tactics; they indeed become rather coy and self-defensive when it comes to criticism of Islam; they feebly complain “who am I to criticise Islam? I do not know any Arabic.” And yet freethinkers are quite happy to criticise Christianity. How many Western freethinkers and atheists know Hebrew? How many even know what the language of Esra chapter 4 verses 6-8 is? Or in what language the New Testament was written? more...

sensible

A great article. It gives enough ways to argue with them, mostly apologists.

its true we have a right to kill people who attack us provided they attack first although we love peace but sometimes we deem neccessary to use force in the 129 veses of surat tobah the ayahs are refering to if the infidels attack us first surely we are not to just sit and take it would be an undermining of our religion and outrage there is no shame in defending yourself and  what you believe in if we are not the aggresssors how is that violent and after every seemingly violent ayah there is an equally peaceful one to balance things out and God in Qur'an makes a clear distinction between the peaceful unbelievers and the people who want undermine our religion our war is not against those who are peaceful unbelievers but against people who want undermine our religion so are saying that muslims shuold be more tolerant of those who despise us not only that but if they had their way we would either have to give up our religion or die  if so be clear about it don't be vague and even in the battlefield we have rules no women, children, elderly  or men who aren't fighting must be killed peace is 2 way thing you must have at both ends if they want peace we give them peace if they want war we give them war if they make a treaty with us we shall never break it until they break it or the term ends as far as jizya goes it places pressure upon dhimmis to accept islam also the state os responsible 4 protecting them so its practical as well but more than anything its a form of persuation whether its the best way to convert muslims is open to debateas for non -muslim parents with muslim children never in the Qur'an does God say severe ties with yuor parents even if they are not muslim u must feed them clothe give them what they need  but you can't ask forgiveness for them how can you when they haven't done that for them selves there is an excellent example in the Qur'an the story of prophet Ibrahim or Abraham peace be upon him and how he delt with his pagan father we humans have preference over all creatures by our intellect and our freedom of choice which was given to us by God in order we may recognize him thus worship him he didn't us those gifts for blasphemy and abuse
