The Whistling-In-The-Dark Whistletop Campaign Stops To W(h)et Its Whistle

Weary, they rest. They have travelled. They are not used to this pace. And they need to whet their whistles.

Why did my comment disappear?

I can't remember exactly what I said, but I was wondering why you wet your whistle, but also sometimes whet it, and whet your appetite but never wet it.

I struggle to see anything remotely offensive about these questions, though arguably they are pointless. However, in future, if you disagree very strongly with a comment of mine to the extent of wanting to delete it, please ask me first and explain why it gave offence. It's only reasonable.

Thanks.

Mary Jackson,

Hugh seems to have deleted several other inoffensive but tangential comments on posts for the Whistlestop Campaign Tour.  My guess is that he prefers more on-topic than on-tangent comments here.  I don't think it is meant personally.

I stumbled into this frmo the NER home page last night (9/16). Really interesting concept. I sense a juxtaposition of past american greatness (as seen in our popular culture) against today's problems in your text posts. Since we have no artists today of this caliber, does that suggest we have no politicians today who can meet these challenges? (What are the odds for Elmo and Hugh really getting elected?) Is this a paean to our last exceptionalism? Please continue this journey at your soonest convenience. I am drawn to this series. Will they make it to California?
