Boris pulls it off

No pun intended.

Breaking news from the BBC: it's official. The people have spoken. (The bastards, as Ken would say.) And the word is "crikey".

London's elected Mayor is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson. Red Ken is Dead Ken.

Rejoice!

Is Boris Good Enough?

Dear NER:

We should be grateful that Mary didn't write "Boris pulls off his johnson."  And now EW and the lot of you Brits are off to bed; peradventure to dream with a bard buried at St. Ives in poll-taxed Cornwall and whose tombstone sits cheek by vowel* with that of Joseph of Arimathea and which reads "Out, out, brief....Aaaaaarrrggghhhhhh!....", having been carved in stone (and little noted as it was written in Aramaic) while he dictated to a tow-headed, callow youth who served as his secretary and accountant and to whom he dedicated a sonnet of which survives only "Hey mister tally man, tallow me banana."

Enjoy your victory and your moment in the sun, but remember that all glory is fleeting and sunlit ballots never thrive.

Best,
The Other Boris

Red Ken is Dead Ken.

Good news indeed.  But replacing the knave with the fool is hardly cause for a street party.  Ken will have more energy to devote to Islamising the capital, and I'm sure the Libertine Democrat chappie will make waves where he can, too.  The latter had a definite branding/image problem --- rather than making self-parodic quips about The Village People, he'd've done better to take a leaf out of their book, and  gone out on the stump <a href="http://images.chips-tv.com/redir.cgi/Gallery/PonchJon/Smile.jpg">looking the part<a>.

...Returning to the matter of Boris...  When London is next attacked by "anti-Islamic" terrorists, do people believe our new Mayor cut a Churchillian figure?

...Or is Wodehousian more likely?
