I am sorry to see Woolworths go - it was part of my childhood, and somewhere I could always pop in to get those odd handy things you can't get anywhere else. Easter eggs, last minute Christmas present DVDs, a cheap mobile phone, and of all things, a plastic sheet for wrapping my shedding Christmas tree in so that I can put it outside without too much damage.
Perhaps, like many others, I should have gone more often. Then again, the management is not blameless - the image was hopelessly old fashioned and the layout confusing.
Boots, another institution, moved with the times. Woolworths didn't. But I'll miss it.

FW WOOLWORTHS is a legend that wont die i set up the FW WOOLWORTHS APPRECIATION SOCIETY to get woolies back on every high street in the uk. People loved woolworths when stores were closing in north walsham, cromer, sheringham and fakenham people were very upset and in tears at the thought WOOLWORTHS was closing.
