When the White House announced President Obama long-awaited speech to the Muslim ummah, the venue had not been determined. As noted in this WorldNetDaily report by Aaron Klein, an invitation has been extended by the Grand Mufti of the Al Azhar Mosque – ancient Egyptian center of Sunni jurisprudence and Sharia theology. Klein noted:
The invitation to speak from Egypt's Al Azhar mosque follows an announcement over this past weekend that Obama will travel to Egypt next month to deliver his promised address to the Muslim world.
According to Al-Masri Al-Yawm, a state-run Egyptian newspaper, Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa and other scholars
from Egypt's Al Azhar University invited Obama to use the mosque as venue for the president's upcoming visit, explaining it would promote a culture of dialogue between Islam and the West.
Al Azhar University is the most respected Sunni Islamic learning center in the world and the second oldest degree-granting school. Clerics at the university's attendant mosque decide Islamic sharia law matters for Sunni Muslims internationally.
It is highly unusual for a non-Muslim to speak at the mosque. An Egyptian official, contacted by WND, could not think of any non-Muslim world leader who had received an invitation.
Al Azhar Mosque and University is considered the equivalent of the ‘Vatican’ in Sunni Islam. It is the bastion of Sharia law. It is also an institution that harbors principals like Grand Imam Sheik Tantawi whose hateful articulation of Koranic proscriptions of Jews, Christians and other infidels should make President Obama uneasy to be speaking there.

Tantawi still publicly affirms all the anti-Jewish statements he wrote in that PhD and is proud to restate them! When Egyptian TV ran a long series recently on the antisemitic forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Tantawi said there was nothing wrong with it, and that antisemitism was just something the Jews invoked to distract people from their own crimes. Usmani and Tantawi are hardly marginal figures. They represent the pinnacle of the mainstream religious hierarchy of modern Islam.
Dhimmitude by American Presidents is not new. Witness these comments in an article we wrote, “Bush and the Islamofascist Détente in DC,” about President Bush’s appearance at the Islamic Center of Washington announcing a Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference in 2007:
Witness the tableau of President Bush going once more to the Islamic Center of Washington to preside over a new initiative: becoming a Dhimmi. Yes, that’s what I said, a Dhimmi. Someone who obsequiously abides by the rules of subjugation under Muslim Sharia law. How did he do it?
For starters he went to the Islamic Center of Washington - a Saudi financed and built Dawa institution - on the occasion of its 50th anniversary to make several important announcements.
One announcement was that Muslims were really tolerant folks just like the Jews, Presbyterians and Buddhists whose sanctuaries lay within a stone’s throw of this Islamic Center on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, DC.
“We admire and thank those Muslims who have denounced what the Secretary General of the OIC called ‘radical fringe elements who pretend that they act in the name of Islam.’ The special envoy’s mission,” Bush said, “would be to listen and learn”.
As Steve Emerson has chronicled in a National Review On-line Op ed, “Radical Outreach” the OIC has supported Palestinian and Hezbollah terrorists, welcomed Hamas military leaders and provided Iranian President Ahmadinejad with a special platform for his anti-Israel, anti-Semitic rants such as “wiping Israel and Jews off the map of the world.” This is the same OIC that perennially votes as a block in the U.N. General Assembly to adopt anti-Israel, some would say, anti-Semitic resolutions every session, year in and year out.
So President Obama is embarked on the slippery slope of official Dhimmitude in Washington, DC by announcing another conciliatory speech in the Vatican of Sunni Islam steeped in hatred of all infidels, Jews paramount among them. By such actions, cultural Jihad deepens its penetration of the West and destruction of Western value of tolerance, justice, freedom and liberty. Sic Gloria transit Obama.
