The Way We Live Now #101

The Washington Times reports an increase in West Nile Virus cases:

Forty-one states and the District have reported 2,171 illnesses from West Nile virus so far this year, 74 of which have been fatal -- setting the stage for a likely increase in new cases compared with 2005, federal health officials say.

West Nile can cause potentially lethal neurological diseases in people, such as West Nile encephalitis and West Nile meningitis.

Of course, the best answer to this problem is DDT but we aren’t allowed to use it here in Sacramento where we have two rivers, a flood plain, and extensive rice fields.

In fact, even the poor pesticide used as a substitute is protested because we know mosquitoes are more important than people. A number of folks have died but that doesn’t matter in Davis where protests are held.

There is even a No Spray Zone Blog and a group called Stop West Nile Spraying Now.

I feel so loved by the Left. They really care about us.
