Erdogan Wants Fethulleh Gulen To Come Home Bookmark and Share

Erdoğan hopes Islamic scholar Gülen returns to Turkey soon

From Today's Zaman:
15 June 2012
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has openly invited Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen to Turkey in a speech he delivered during the closing ceremony for the 10th Turkish Olympiads amid a standing ovation from a crowd of over 50,000.

Erdoğan, who spoke after he was granted a special award by the organizing committee of the Olympiads, implied that Gülen, without directly mentioning his name, should return to Turkey as soon as possible. The well-known scholar has been residing in the US for nearly 13 years.

“We want this yearning to end,” he said, receiving a lengthy standing ovation from the crowd, in a rare blunt invitation for Gülen to return to his homeland. Erdoğan added, “We want to see those who are abroad and longing for the homeland among us.” [why not bring home millions of Turks from Western Europe who are surely"longing for the homeland"?]

Responding to the lengthy applause, Erdoğan further said he understands that the crowd also wants “this yearning to end.”

Gülen is a Turkish Islamic scholar well known for his teachings that promote mutual understanding and tolerance between different cultures and faiths. Now residing in the US, Gülen has pioneered educational activities in a number of countries, along with efforts to promote intercultural and interfaith activities around the world. The Turkish Olympiads are an initiative pioneered by schools associated with him.

He has also written nearly 60 books in Turkish, most of which have been translated into dozens of languages. He was most recently honored with the EastWest Institute's (EWI) 2011 EWI Peace Building Award for his contribution to world peace.

Gülen is in self-imposed exile in the US even though there is not any legal hurdle that prevent him from returning to Turkey. Shortly after he went to the US, in 2000, then-State Security Court (DGM) prosecutor Nuh Mete Yüksel launched a case against him on charges of establishing an illegal organization, but he was eventually acquitted after eight years. Upon appeal, the General Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals upheld the acquittal.

Dear Nurdan, I think you´re right. Dont know who that guy is Erdogan wants back - but if Erdogan wants him back, its not good. The majority of thinking turks is propably not the majority of the turks in general...

The return of Gulen is like the return to Russia of Lenin. In this case it is a sign that the theocratization of Turkey is about to increase rapidly. This may be something that Erdogan wants to see happen but it is also something that the majority of thinking Turks oppose.

I can't wait for Fethullah Gülen Hoca Efendi to return back to his homeland Turkey. This extraordinary person is an inspiration for all and his way is the only way that will conquer the hearts of all people no matter what their faith and background is! Wow!! "WE LOVE YOU Hoca Efendi!!!"

Turkish should be the official language of Holland. We are no so many living here that Turkey, which is a much better language, should replace Dutch.

What an excellent idea.  From the point of view of sensible infidels, especially Americans, the sooner he is off American soil and back in dar al islam, the better; but his networks within the non-Muslim lands ought to be investigated ASAP, not only in the USA but everywhere else, and ideally, shut down altogether.

Just another jihad gang boss, a capo dei capi.

And where he gets his money from, I'd dearly like to know.

Just a thought, perhaps it is time for some private, well funded group of non liberal, non Islamic Americans to start up a highly secretive assasin hit squad, to begin sniping these bellicose leaders of Islam who flaunt their impunity, while inciting their minion Islamics to murder our people.

Since they already employ assasins in their ranks that carry out murder against we non Islamics, we should fear not a retaliation.

Killing the heads of the hydra like beast of Islam surely might have positives for we the non Islamics, we the targeted for extinction by the Islamics, we the people of liberty.

Further, by being private America can honestly disavow itself. Thank you.
