Australia: Muslim Man Mutilates, Tries to Kill His Non-Muslim Ex; Judge Gives Him 8 and a Half Years Less Time Already Served, Eligible for Parole After Serving 1/3 Bookmark and Share

So far as I can see from the accounts of the attack, which was ferocious, he intended to kill her.  Yet if he plays his cards right he could be out of jail by September next year.  I find it very difficult to comprehend the lightness and brevity of the sentence, given that even non-Muslim men who do the kind of thing he did - stalk and attack a former spouse, de facto or girlfriend - tend to represent a permanent menace to their victims.  I would bet good money that the moment this man is out of jail he will - because of the Muslim honour-shame mindset - go after her again, even more obsessively than would a thwarted non-Muslim abuser.

From Australia's ABC, this morning; for purposes of comparison, and additional details, I will provide also the report that appeared in the local paper, the 'Gold Coast Bulletin'.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-10-16/man-who-cut-off-girlfriends-tongue-jailed/4317000

'Man Jailed for cutting off Girlfriend's Tongue'.

That is, 'Muslim Man Jailed For Slashing Girlfriend's Face, Cutting Off Tongue'. - CM

'A man (a Muslim man - CM) has been sentenced to 8 and a half years' jail for severing a woman's tongue.

'Mohammed Tasleem Tahir was in a relationship with Catherine Skinner in Adelaide, and when she moved to the Gold Coast, he followed her.

Earlier reports of this case indicate that she had broken off the relationship, and fled. - CM

'The Southport District Court heard in November 2010, the then 21 year old attacked Ms Skinner in her apartment.

'The Crown prosecutor told the court Tahir smashed an empty bottle over the 20 year old's head several times, fracturing her eye socket.

That is no trivial blow. This could have killed her; was probably meant to kill her.  Any blow to the head with a blunt object that is savage enough to break the eye socket, is a blow that might have killed. Or did the defence manage to represent it as manslaughter?  Anyone who understands the Islamic mindset, and the phenomenon of 'honor' murders, would know that this was not mere manslaughter (as it might have been, in the case of a non-Muslim attacker) but rather, an intended execution-for-the-crime-of-rebellion. - CM

'Tahir then dragged a knife across her face, cutting her mouth and severing her tongue, the court heard.

She is lucky, I suppose, that he did not perform a halal slaughter slash across her throat...or behead her. As we will see from the additional detail supplied by the Gold Coast Bulletin, he surely meant to kill her. - CM

'Judge Katherine McGinness sentenced Tahir to eight and a half years' jail.

'She ordered he be eligible for parole after serving a third of his sentence.

Upon which, I am willing to bet, he will at once set out to hunt down his victim and finish her off.  Did this possibility even occur to the idiot judge, who clearly has not got a clue about 'honor' murders  - the ritualistic Muslim vigilante-style executions of uppity or perceived-to-be-uppity women - and what drives them? - CM

'A woman in the public gallery gasped when the judge explained that, due to time already served, Tahir could be released in September next year.'

I am flabbergasted.  Talk about a slap on the wrist.  The crime occurredi n November 2010, so he has been in jail for perhaps 18 months. One year and 18 months, as 'punishment' for having permanently mutilated and disfigured a woman as a result of attempting to 'honor' murder her?  He's laughing.

If he does - after getting out of jail - go after Ms Skinner again and manages to find her and murder her, her blood will be on the Judge's hands.

And now for the version given by Leah Fineran for the Gold Coast Bulletin, supplying additional, and very telling, detail.

http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2012/10/16/439928_crime-and-court-news.html

'Man jailed for cutting girlfriend's tongue'.

'A South Australian man (sic: his being from 'South Australia' is utterly irrelevant; what is relevant is that he is a Muslim man, reared in a religio-cultural or cultic context that effectively gives every Muslim man the right to act as judge, jury and executioner over each and every woman he has to do with, whether Muslim or non-Muslim - CM) who brutally cut off his ex-girlfriend's tongue in a jealous rage on the Gold Coast has been jailed for 8 and a half years.

Theoretically. In practice he is likely to serve far less than that, as we already saw from the ABC report. - CM

'Mohammed Tasleem Tahir, 23, pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court to causing grievous bodily harm to his 20 year old former partner.

Why was it not a charge of attempted murder? - CM

'Judge Katherine McGinness condemned his attack as "persistent and devastating".

'But due to his youth and lack of violent criminal history she set him parole eligibility from September next year.

Thus revealing her complete lack of comprehension of how 'honor' murders work.  Muslims who carry out or attempt to carry out 'honor' murders within the West do not necessarily have prior criminal records.  The Muslim mother who in Canada tried to murder her daughter with a knife, did not have a prior criminal record. - CM

'Tahir admitted he followed his ex-partner from Adelaide to the Gold Coast in 2010 and confronted her in her apartment on November 13 claiming he wanted to 'repair' the relationship.

Suuure he did. - CM

'When she resisted he bashed her with a large, empty Bundaberg Rum bottle and used a knife to cut slits in the corners of her lips (I have heard of this mutilation - it is called a 'moonie' and marks the woman as a whore - CM) and to sever part of her tongue.

'He then strangled her in the bedroom and only stopped when she played dead.

And he was charged with 'grievous bodily harm' rather than with 'attempted murder'? Why? - CM

'Concerned neighbours heard "a bloodcurdling scream" and called police who kicked down the apartment door and found the bloodied couple in the unit.

'The woman received intensive care for her mouth, tongue, facial gashes and a fractured eye socket.

'Today the court was told the woman had suffered permanent facial scarring and despite surgery to repair her tongue she had lost sensation and still had trouble speaking.

'She did not attend court today.

'Barrister Michael Byrne QC said Tahir regretted his actions (I don't believe that.  He probably merely regrets getting caught, or regrets that he didn't manage to kill her - CM) and had begun attending Muslim prayer sessions five times a day in jail.

Next stop, Jihad? - CM

'Judge McGinness rejected an application by the Crown to declare Tahir a serious violent offender.'

I said it once and I say it again: I am simply flabbergasted. - CM

The woman who gasped was the young lady's mother, a rather understandable reaction in light of the circumstances.

Disappointed

Here is something for you all to contemplate.

The Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie, is seeking advise on the sentencing of this of this matter.  If we are all serious with our opinions then we should inbox his office, show that this does not reflect our community's expectation of what is appropriate. The pen (or in this case e-mail) is mightier that the sword.

Something to think about.
