Picture left, Farhad Salah to the left and Andy Star to the right. Court sketches are not meant to flatter so I will reserve judgment on whether Salah really is aged 22 until I see a photograph of him in different circumstances. If the court sketch is accurate then he either had an uphill paper round, or he entered the country under a 'shave the children' scam.
A chip shop owner terror suspect and his friend appeared in court today accused of planning to build a remote control car bomb to detonate from a laptop for an alleged Christmas massacre.
Andy Star, 31, and Farhad Salah, 22, were arrested on December 19 in a series of early morning raids in the Chesterfield and Sheffield areas of South Yorkshire. Today both appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates Court via video link from Leeds Magistrates Court. The two men, both Kurdish Iraqis, were dressed in prison issue tracksuits. (They) spoke only confirm their name, age and address, and are both accused of a single terror count.
They allegedly planned to build an IED that would be placed inside a driverless car, with a laptop controlling the vehicle and detonating the device.
Prosecutor Thomas Halpin said: 'Both are jointly charged with a single offence of preparation to commit acts of terrorism. . . This is a case in which the Crown say both defendants were researching, developing and manufacturing chemicals to make explosive substances so they could be used in an IED with a view to committing acts in the UK.'
The court heard that they are accused of possessing 'low explosive black powder'.
Jordan Batteson, 25, who lives near the Mermaid Fish Bar, said: 'He was a really nice guy, really friendly. I used to go in there to get my chips. He gave the staff copies of the Koran.'
A close friend of Star said: 'I can't believe it ... I don't know what happened, he was a nice guy ... I am sure he is innocent'.
The men did not enter pleas at the hearing.

If there is a moral to this story it's that we must now watch out for "nice guys."
Does waterboarding loosen up brainwashing? Are the washing's effluent and debris of value for exposing comrades in murdermania?
From the article - "Jordan Batteson... said... "He was a really nice guy, really friendly. I used to go in there to get my chips. **He gave the staff [Muslim or non-Muslim staff? - CM] copies of the Koran**." In other words he was a pious mohammedan engaged in dawa... and therefore he was a pious mohammedan inclined to wage Jihad. And that line "he was a really nice guy, really friendly" should be a lesson to all those foolish infidel Defenders of Islam who, all over social media, go on and on about the terribly-nice Muslim friends that they have... and that therefore anyone worrying about Jihad and mentioning those many Jihad verses in the Koran must be an eeevil racist and bigot... Nice is as nice DOES. And what Mr 'nice' 'really friendly' mohammedan fish-and-chip-shop owner was planning to do here, was not nice, not nice at all. Same thing with 'Star' (who is or who purported to be a Kurdish Iraqi Muslim, just like the other bloke, despite his anglicised name) - "I can't believe it, he was a nice guy... I am sure he is innocent". Hm. If the 'close friend' is a Muslim, then his defence of 'Star' as 'nice' and 'innocent' is not worth spit: because Muslim definitions of 'nice' and 'innocent' are not the same as Kuffar definitions. If he is a non-Muslim, then he's a sucker; because a/ he is not in fact a close friend, Muslims are not allowed to really-truly take non-Muslims as friends, and b/ yet again: nice is as nice DOES, not as 'nice' 'seems'.
To repeat the point I and another have made: these guys presented as 'nice guys'. I would advise the Islamosavvy to copy and keep this article, complete with links. Particularly copy those remarks ' He was a really nice guy, really friendly". And keep them up your sleeve - this specific case, but one could easily find other examples - to bring out when some friend, colleague, or other naive person tries to argue that Islam can't possibly be as bad as you're trying to warn them it is, because they have *such* a nice, lovely, sweet, Muslim friend, or workmate, or employer, or employee, or classmate.... Further thought. These two jihad plotters were, or claimed to be, *Kurds* from Iraq. One might think it fair for Kurds, in Kurdistan, to *have* a 'Kurdistan'. But one should be under no illusions that the Islam practised by Kurds - nearly all of whom are Sunni Muslims - is not, well... ISLAM. If Kurdish Muslims 'get religion' and decide to be really pious, they will do exactly as all other kinds of Muslims do. I would not admit Kurdish Muslim 'refugees' into any part of the dar al Harb.
Not just a 'nice guy'. The trip advisor reviews of the shop, from people with indigenous local names, all say what good fish and chips were sold, and in particular the addition of a quality gluten free batter option. That's going the extra mile. This wasn't some dodgy halal cheap chicken shop used as a front for drug money and prostitution laundering. He was either radicalised very recently, or he really was paying attention to detail with his cover story. Chesterfield isn't a Muslim ghetto town either, like Bradford or Dewsbury.
Understanding this can of worms and deadly germs is in the significance and application of Islam's ideas of deception, deviousness, distraction, as encompassed by kitman and taqiyya. The goal is world-wide control, imposition and acceptance of Islam. The strategies and tactics for achievement are many -- overwhelming immigration for vote control of legislation and weakening of host social/political systems, threats and acts of violence cowing the non-Muslim majority and its schools, ... Fires will light the advancing darkness, Best to build the barricades and offensives knowing the way the wind is blowing and how it's growing from a Category 2 to a Category 5 or 6 wipeout of Western civilization. Our effeteism is leading to our attitude of defeatism. It's time to wake up ++ lest we're murdered in our sleep, or rather in our self-imposed coma.
