I know how you feel. You should have seen the looks I got when I referred to Picasso as a "prankster cartoonist." That was many years ago, but I am still laughing out loud.

Yep. That's one of the pillars of my Philosophy of Art. (I've got others ;-)
Mainstream art was almost always about capturing the true look of things (mostly people), something which the camera does for us quite exceptionally.
And so "Art" had to manufacture temples of illusions for its many devotees searching for status in their appreciation of its New Clothes.
Which is why I miss Hecht's Dadaists and their urgent slogans:
"Art Is In Danger!" and "Take Your Foot Out Of The Butter Before It's Too Late!"
