This is not a case of either or"  but "both and". The Skaggerak is the arm of the North Sea that separates Denmark (Northwest coast of Jutland) from Southern Norway). The Kattegat is the body of water between the North Sea and the Baltic that separates the Northeastern coast of Jutland and the island of Zealand (Sjaelland) where Copenhagen is located from Southwestern Sweden. For good measyure, the Oresund is the narrow channel between Copenhagen and Malmo (since July 2000 bridged by the 10 mile long  Oresundbro (bro = bridge) over which trains, travelling at more than 120 miles per hour or in your own car can cross Western Europe and reach Southern Spain without interruption.

I know, but I just like the sound of the names. I can’t think of the word to describe the effect, it's not onomatopoeia because it is not a description of wild water, and not alliteration although all those k sounds are part of it but I’m sure it has a name.

For the same reason I have always liked the Tyrannosaurus Rex (before they became T-Rex) song Salamander Palaganda.  

Is the Skagerrak and Kattegat  where the Kraken was supposed to live, or am I getting confused with Scylla and Charybdis?
