Bank holiday weekend

It's the May Day bank holiday this weekend and, as is our wont, we are off to Rochester shortly for the Sweeps Festival. You can see what we are up to here.

While I am away I am setting a poser. That's a question, not a pratt who hangs around in nightclubs trying to look cool. He's a poseur.

What is this?

Post your answers in the comments section please, if anyone is actually interested, and if you are interested I'll tell on Monday when I return.

Meanwhile I wish Boris all the best in his new post.

Could it be some kind of a nut? The kind used in self-assembly for dummies?

It is some kind of winder, similar to an old camera film winder.

A spigot for some kind of jug?  But not sure what those ridges on the bottom are for.  Maybe it's for zesting citrus, which means a previous poster got it right already.

With Knobs On/Off?

My primitive brain and eyes are poor substitutes for image enhancement software, but I think I can make out "ST".  Could the widget be from a late model (or was there only one?) Stylophone?   I was unfamiliar with that device until reading about it on NER, but suspect that it's maximum volume fell far short of Spinal Tap's mythical (embellishing here) Amp of Aaaarrrggghhhh!; that's loud!

"Some kind of nut?" -Has Mary's "grey goo" fused the concept of the Golem with that of self-replicating nanobots?
