He's good, he's right on track but 'love' him? What's wrong with 'deeply admire his courage' or 'envy him his public candour'?

Keep a stiff upper lip - no tears of joy, for heaven's sake. Just a quiet "well done" or "here, here" is quite sufficient, dontcherknow.
