Dry Bones: J Street Expansion is a Call to Arms for Z Street

Israeli cartoonist Dry Bones has done Z Street a favor. This cartoon,"Expanding J Street",  is a call to arms to oppose the instant grass roots activism effort of  J Street following its 'merger' with 36 Brit T'zedek v Shalom chapters around the US.  As the Dry Bones cartoon trenchantly makes clear the J Street message is anything but pro-Israel, it is anti-Israel. Z Street co-founder Lori Lowenthal; Marcus, who is also on the board of University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) Hillel in Philadelphia, opposed the Hillel chapter decision to rent its facility so that J Street's executive director Jeremy Ben Ami could web cast  an address to more than 15 former Brit T'zedek chapters around the country.  Imagine these 'instant' J Street chapters on every Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) Israel Action Committee of Jewish Federations across the US.  Z Street representatives should be  on each one of these community outreach groups for equal time to rebut the presence of J Street local representatives. The quality of that possible effort was clearly shown in  what Marcus and others did who organzied a counter educational program at Steinhardt Hall on the UPENN Campus last Thursday night in Philadelphia featuring Dr. Mitchell Bard of Myths and Facts and the Jewish Virtual Library.  That in my view should be duplicated at every opportunity to get the Z Street message out there to counter J Street anti-Israel grass roots activism at meetings of  Israel Action Committees of JCRCs across America.  Kol Hakavod (all honors in Hebrew) to  cartoonist Dry Bones and Lori Lowenthal Marcus of Z Street for issuing their respective calls to arms against the likes of anti-Israel Jeremy Ben Ami and J Street.
