The West Ham Mega-Mosque - Latest Plans Submitted

by Esmerelda Weatherwax (October 2012)

Regular readers may recall previous articles about the proposals for the land on the bank of the Channelsea River (part of the Bow backs system of the River Lea) near West Ham tube station currently owned by the Islamic organisation Tablighi Jamaat. Their current English name is the Riverine Centre, which I suspect is easier for their sensibilities than their previous name – Abbey Mills Mosque. They themselves call their current establishment the Masjid Ilyas.  more>>>

Esmerelda - even before you made your remark about the mosque being 'a fortress', that is exactly the thing that was striking me...from looking at the plans and pictures.

Military installation.  Military base.  Fort.

That's what these things are.  And the bigger they are, the more dangerous, because of the greater number of potential combatants who can gather inside, the better to swarm out across the neighbouring countryside or town.

As for Tablighi Jamaat: a few years ago, at jihadwatch, in the comments, a commenter identifying himself as an ex-Muslim had a few interesting things to say about them, that ring true.

He was, by one of the posters, encouraged to get in touch with the people conducting the campaign against the megamosque, and I think he took that advice.

Anyway, I will report here what he said about Tablighi Jamaat, and how they operate; and I think, myself, that they ought to be banned, and that many a lax or disaffected Muslim, within the West, would not be at all sorry to be rid of them.

Here's the link for the original article, in the comments thread of which you will find one Shafee al-Zindig giving information about TJ.

"As an ex-Muslim [he wrote] I have had a lot of unpleasant encounters with these Tablighi Jamaat characters.

'They always go around all areas in large all-male groups, especially on Thursdays, canvassing all homes looking to especially target nominal Muslim males.

"They generally look for men without beards as potential recruits.

"If a woman answers the door, they rudely turn their backs on her, and ask to speak to all the males in the house.

"The males who come to the door are told that their movement is having a very informative talk on Islam at their local mosque and 'request' their presence.

"At the mosque, the indoctrination and brainwashing of the average nominal Muslim begins.

"They are told that their present tolerant practice of Islam is nothing but ignorance.  They are then 'radicalised', i.e. taught 'true' Islam." - Sept 8 2009 5:29 am.

One 'boneshack', another poster, inquired "Interesting story.  So what happens when these 'requests' are not honored?"

To which Shafee replied: "It's like in the movie "The Godfather".  It's an offer you dare not pass up.

"Many of my nominal Muslim family members and acquaintances make diplomatic excuses or feign illness or say they will meet them at the mosque later on.

"Thereafter on all future Thursdays they first check before answering the door and if it's them [i.e. TJ] again, they hide and pretend nobody is at home.

"The problem of their [TJ's] intimidatory tactics is especially rife in the Muslim enclaves (Dar al Islam) that have been carved out in western countries".
