France Has Nothing, Algeria Everything, To Apologize For

To Algeria, the French brought modern agricultural methods, built the first schools and universities, constructed and outfitted the first hospitals and the fruits of modern medicine, and the only vehicle the inhabitants of the Maghreb now possess for access to the greater world of Western civlization (its art, its literature, its science and technology).

What did Algeria bring to France? It has been the chief source, for France, of unwanted millions of sullen Muslim immigrants whose presence is costing the French state a fortune, disrupting schools - both classroom discipline and the curriculum have suffered, making daily life, for those French who come most often in contact with, and have to deal with, Muslim North Africans, in a state of permanent agitation and subdued fury. And that presence represents, too, a growing and obvious danger not only to the mental and emotional wellbeing of the French, but to their physical security.

Who should be doing the apologizing? Who has the justified grievance?

ALGIERS (Reuters) - President Francois Hollande refused on Wednesday to apologize for France's colonial past in Algeria, saying instead that Paris wanted to move forward on an equal footing and boost trade with the oil-rich North African nation.

The speed and completeness with which the Algerians dismantled everything the French brought is staggering. But then, they don't need food, clean water and modern hospitals - they have islam. Send the North Africans back to North Africa and let the French retain France.
