Une enquête préliminaire a été ouverte par le parquet de Draguignan (dans le Var) après une plainte du Conseil français du culte musulman (CFCM) contre les propos de Jean-François Copé sur le "pain au chocolat", a-t-on appris aujourd'hui de source judiciaire.

L'enquête a été confiée au service des atteintes aux personnes de la préfecture de police de Paris, a-t-on indiqué de même source. Aucune précision n'a été donnée quant à une éventuelle audition de Jean-François Copé.

L'avocate du CFCM, Me Khadija Aoudia, avait déposé plainte à Nîmes en octobre et le parquet local s'est depuis dessaisi au profit de celui de Draguignan, où Jean-François Copé, alors candidat à la présidence de l'UMP, avait évoqué lors d'un meeting le cas d'un jeune qui se serait fait "arracher son pain au chocolat par des voyous" au motif "qu'on ne mange pas au ramadan".

Ces propos ont été jugés diffamatoires et "islamophobes" par le CFCM, qui avait maintenu sa plainte après un courrier adressé par Jean-François Copé à son président Mohammed Moussaoui, dans lequel le dirigeant de l'UMP s'étonnait des poursuites engagées à son encontre.
