Gordon: Disturbing wave of anti-Semitism re-emerging

Jerry Gordon writes in the Pensacola News Journal:

Something that we thought was dead and buried has come back with a vengeance: violent hatred against Jews and Christians in Europe and in America. Imagine being told "to kill Jews" because they "stole your lands and keep you downtrodden."

On Aug. 29, the disturbing resurgence of anti-Semitism was the central focus for an overflow crowd of more than 400 people at Pensacola Junior College's Hagler Auditorium. They watched "Ever Again," a Moriah Production film narrated by actor Kevin Costner. It is part of the outreach program conducted by the Simon Wiesenthal Center of Los Angeles.

The film and discussion were co-sponsored by the Pensacola Jewish Federation, The Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Temple Beth El, the Men's Club and Sisterhood of B'nai Israel Synagogue and talk-radio station WEBY AM-1330.

My reasons for being involved in the event are personal, and indelibly inked into my mind. I am an eyewitness to the radical Islamist terror that occurred on a brilliant, late summer day in Manhattan six years ago: 9/11.

I consider this graphic horrific event, forever burned into my memory, as a Pearl Harbor for the 21st century.

Radicalized, upper middle class, well-educated young Muslim men killed more than 3,000 people, irrespective of religious affiliation. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists even fellow Muslims were joined together in death with every other possible theological belief system in this mass murder.

The Western-style education offered these young Muslim men didn't stifle their radical strain. Many of the perpetrators of 9/11, 15 of them Saudi nationals, were trained as engineers. The Muslim perpetrators of the recently thwarted London and Glasgow terror bombings were medical doctors who were willing to violate their Hippocratic Oath to preserve life.

The same radical Islamist Internet Web sites that spawned the U.K. plotters had comments from 45 Muslim doctors here in the U.S. threatening to attack the Mayport Naval base near Jacksonville, according to the British newspaper "The Telegraph."

The film "Ever Again" accurately documents that radical Muslims have formed alliances with disaffected Neo-Nazis in Europe. That is not surprising; as Hitler said: "The only religion I respect is Islam. The only prophet I admire is the Prophet Muhammad."

They have perpetrated violent actions in the U.K., the Netherlands, France, Spain, Germany and Denmark. They have made suicide attacks, kidnapped and murdered Jews, and torched and destroyed synagogues and police stations. They have committed unspeakable acts like the so-called "honor killing" of Muslim women, their own daughters, in many countries, including Denmark and even America.

Recent polls by the Pew Research Center have found that Muslim youths support suicide attacks against Jews and Christians and even their own Muslim "silent majority."...
