Sohrawardy's Hudna

The entire reply by Ezra Levant is worth reading. And Syed Sohrawardy, whose sudden volte-face he correctly identifies as an example of "taqiyya" (religiously-sanctioned dissimulation to protect the Believer practicing it, and hence, in that particular Believer's view, "protecting Islam"), as part of the "hudna" that Sohrawardy senses needs, at this point, to be declared.

Funny to note that Sohrawardy describes himself as a "Sufi" and his enemies in the mosque -- the three women who have now charged him with mistreating them -- as "Wahhabis." This could reflect his understanding that the word "Wahhabi" can be usefully employed against other Muslims, whatever their actual background or complaints against him. Or it could be that he is indeed a "Sufi" in which case, this is yet another disabusing example of a "Sufi" behaving badly, in his attempt to stifle free speech, and an example that is needed, for many non-Muslims are under the  impression that "Sufis" are all dreamy mystics, Rumi-readers who haven't the time of day for Jihad. Al-Ghazali, the famous theologian, was  a Sufi, and he described participation in military Jihad as a duty for Muslims, to be performed annually.

Syed Sohrawardy is not only the "President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada" but also "Founder, Muslims Against Terrorism." Think about how easy it is to fabricate an organization and assign a title to yourself, and then, should you choose, to hold out your hand for funds from Infidel governments (National, Provincial, local) and individuals to support such a worthy cause. After all, who would not wish to support someone who describes himself as "Founder" of such an important and desperately-needed group as "Muslims Against Terrorism"?
