Geert Wilders Weekend in Southern California: Orange County and Los Angeles
Tomorrow, Geert Wilders, Dutch parliamentarian and leader of the PVV (Freedom Party) in the Hague Parliament, will be the featured speaker at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The event -see below- is jointly sponsored by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, American Freedom Alliance and the Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors (CJHSLA). This afternoon he will speak at Chapman University in Orange County. He will also attend a private dinner in his honor this evening in Los Angeles.
We had a hand in facilitating the Skirball Center event and arranging through Doris Wise of CJHSLA for a video of Wilders to be filmed tomorrow. The film will be screened at the NER Symposium in Nashville, next month, May 29th and 30th.
How did that happen? When Bjorn Larsen, Wilders ‘scheduler’, called me three weeks ago to advise us of this weekend series of events in Southern California, I suggested reaching out to Doris Wise, of CHSLA. Wise and I then discussed possible venues and Larsen contacted Wise.
Subsequent to these discussions, Wise contacted Michael Finch of the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Finch thought with the name of Wise’s organization, CJHSLA, that it would overcome the unease of general liberal Southern California Jews who frequent the Skirball Center in dealing with his group, as he thought CHSLA was on the left. Wise and I chuckled about that because if anything CJHSLA is on the right politically both in the US and Israel.
CHSLA which has put on terrific events concerned about the Jihad threats to Israel and Jews, has a significant mailing list in Southern California. That was also not lost on Finch of the David Horowitz Center and Larsen. Thus, the alliance was formed to get Wilders to speak at the Skirball Cultural Center- a major Los Angeles Jewish community venue.
We understand from this Atlas Shrugs post, "Muslims Target Wilders in California," that the local Muslim Brotherhood fronts are upset with Wilders presence this weekend in Orange County, today, and, Los Angeles, tomorrow. Hence the reason for heightened security at both the Chapman University in Orange County and the Skirball Center. Here’s what the local ummah protesters are being urged to do according to Atlas Shrugs:
Atlas readers, put on your flip flops and get down to Memorial Hall tomorrow.
