In deciding which version to use, I chose the original because I wanted Renato Carosone to be seen, and heard. In the movie version the camera keeps returning to Matt Damon, an American in the audience, with an interest not in the music but in one of the musicians. The original better conveys the comment on the desire of some Italians, during a certain period (roughly, the 1950s) to "be American" -- the same theme comically exploited in the Sordi clip.
