Re: who you gonna call?

Gates of Vienna is generally rather eager to dance gleefully on British graves. However, in the clip shown it is clear that the small number of police present thought they were dealing with a minor disturbance involving one stroppy individual, and were not expecting the huge mob that showed up within minutes.

Compare the response here, when they were prepared.

Diffusing a situation politely - as they tried to here - is usually the best response. And we don't know what happened next - were reinforcements called to quell the mob?

Damian Thompson also has it in The Telegraph.
The ranter is, of course, Abu Izzadeen or Not so Clever Trevor Brooks. My husband and I have just spent the last 3 quarters of an hour running and re-running the clip to see if we can identify where he is ranting. Definitely somewhere in London from the red bus and white shirts of the Met Police but we can't get close enough on freeze frame to identify bus number or street names. It looks familiar but most of the capital looks familiar to me.

I agree with Mary's assessment that the police set out to deal with one or two men peacefully and we don't know what happened next. Also bear in mind this incident took place around the general election of May 2005. Ie 3 years ago, and before the London bombs, so the police reaction would not necessarily be the same today. For one thing, Abu Izzadeen is inside now.

I thought that was our Izzy. Yes, of course, we don't know what happened next and they were completely caught off guard. Still it's interesting to watch this encounter between the civilized polite police and this contemptuous mob.

The softly softly approach works with most people, but since Islam teaches that the kafir law is of no account, maybe a different approach is needed. That Muslim mob sees itself as being at war.

What I want to know is,  Izzadeen comes from Hackney; I was born in Hackney. He was an electrician; so was my late father.  So where did he get that preposterous accent?
