Any Nurse To Any Patient

I just spent two days in the hospital where I observed the flora and fauna, as they, in turn, observed me, and gave me all kinds of tests that I passed with....well, with flying colors di tutti i colori.

What partly made my day, and night, and day again,  was what, as I was being transferred from an emergency-room bedlet to a proper bed in a proper room,  I heard the nurse -- no respecter of parsons -- say to me: "Scoot your bum over."

"Scoot your bum over." Four telling words, from that  poem  "Any Nurse To Any Patient." In any other context, impolite. In that context, strangely comforting.

I did as she requested. I'd do it again for her or any other nurse trying to move me here or move me there. Questo ed altro.

"Sette Piani", in Italian and English.

Do not let them, on any account, transfer you down from the seventh floor.
