Pakistan Sentences Doctor Who Helped Americans Find Bin Laden to 33 Years in Prison

A doctor who helped the CIA hunt down Osama bin Laden was convicted Wednesday of conspiring against the state and sentenced to 33 years in prison, adding new strains to an already deeply troubled relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan.

U.S. officials had urged Pakistan to release the doctor, who ran a vaccination program for the CIA to collect DNA and verify the al-Qaida leader's presence at the compound in the town of Abbottabad where U.S. commandos killed him in May 2011 in a unilateral raid.

The lengthy sentence against Dr. Shakil Afridi will be taken as another sign of Pakistan's defiance of American wishes. It could give further fuel to critics in the United States that Pakistan — which has yet to arrest anyone for helping shelter bin Laden — should no longer be treated as an ally....

At 48 the guy will no doubt die in prison. In any case people sentenced to prison in Pakistan probably don't live more than just 3 or 4 years on average, no matter their age.

The Obama administration hasn't done or said anything about this. In the future, any reasonable Muslim ( and there certainly are some) will be most reluctant to help America or Nato in a conflict with islam because they will think back to this case and come to the conculsion that theri co-operation will end in nothing more than death or a lengthy prison sentence.

It's hard enough already to find reliable partners in the muslim world, but with this case finding such partners will become virtually impossible.

One more thing; Pakistan isn't just duplicitous and deceitful; it is  a disgusting, a repulsive  and a useless shit-hole.

So no doubt Obama will throw them a few billion more.

Succinct analysis by John P. Verbal description in paragraph 4 reveals the soul of a poet. My kinda poet, anyway.

 All agreed then.

The way to heap further humiliation on these deceitful shysters is to spring Afridi from jail in a whirlwind military strike similar to the one at Abbotabad. Then set the guy up with a nice place in Palm Springs and a million dollars.
