Anti-Islamization Protests in Melbourne
Two excellent reports at GoV – here and here. The Baron notes:
I notice that the pattern is the same in the “anti-racist” reaction to these anti-Islamization demos as it is in Europe:
1. |
|
The counter-demonstrators significantly outnumber the demonstrators. |
2. |
|
They are well-organized, and most carry professionally printed signs and banners, in contrast to the homemade signs carried by the Islam-critics. |
3. |
|
They are far more likely to be masked than their targets are. |
4. |
|
In all instances in which it can be definitively determined, the “anti-racists” strike the first blow in any violent encounter with the anti-Islamic protesters. |
5. |
|
Media coverage bends over backwards to be equivocal about “both sides”. Reporters and anchors often tip towards favoring the counterdemonstrators, giving them more close-ups and positive sound bites. |
