After Many Years

by Bibhu Padhi (November 2016)

It seems I have lost

your eyes and lips for today—

the eyes that looked

at nothing in particular,

as if they looked only

far inside themselves,

and the world had ended.

Inside your mouth the words

have frozen. You could not speak.

The trees and their

loneliness, spoke for you.

And what eloquent speech!
