SITREP: Could Sudan be the Cornerstone of the Caliphate in Africa?
clear

by Gen. Abakar Abdallah,[1] Jerry Gordon and Deborah Martin[2] (December 2016)

The Islamic Republic of the Sudan Objective is to Establish a Caliphate
Composed of Sudan, Chad, Central African Republic Niger and Mali

Just after the election of President-elect Donald Trump, Dr. Walid Phares, his principal advisor on Middle East Affairs, spoke before a group of American Sudanese Nuba émigrés in Washington, DC. Eric Reeves of Amnesty International wrote in a November 15, 2016 column in the Sudan Times about Phares’ statement. He speculated on what the Trump Administration might accomplish in the first 100 days to address the genocide by the corrupt Bashir regime:  more>>>

Florida’s Immigration History When Ethnicity, Religion and Language Hardly Mattered
clear

by Norman Berdichevsky (December 2016)

The English Colony, Orlando

Less than half a mile from my home in Orlando, Florida at a Shell gas station is a historical marker in the Conway neighborhood that tells an interesting story. This story is in sharp contrast to the image of the Statue of Liberty’s famous inscribed poem “The New Colossus” at its base by Emma Lazarus and the current debate of how best to integrate new immigrants. Several generations of immigrants and college students could recite it by heart…..  more>>>

Hillary's Emails: Why They Mattered
clear

by Gary Fouse (December 2016)

Hillary Clinton's email scandal from her tenure as secretary of state, may or may not be a dead issue. We don't know whether a newly-led Justice Department under President Donald Trump will re-open the matter or turn it over to a special prosecutor, despite the recent indication by President-elect Trump that he would prefer to put the matter behind us. Not to beat a dead horse, but I do feel that the public at large never truly appreciated the gravity and the absurdity of what Mrs. Clinton did with her sensitive communications as Secretary of State. I say this as one who has had personal experience dealing within the State Department's communication system.  more>>>

On Free Verse: A Minority Report
clear

by Samuel Hux (December 2016)

I have been quarreling with colleagues for years about the existence of “free verse” (including “some of my best friends” who write it), I contending that while the “prose poem” is a contradiction in terms and an opportunity for people who cannot write poetry to “write poetry” (and not to be confused with “poetic prose,” which is what happens when natural poets, say Herman Melville, try to write prose), free verse may exist—may rarely, may occasionally, may just now and then exist—but is most often merely a miserable prose poem arranged in lines instead of paragraphs.  more>>>

Mid East Issues Facing the Trump Administration: a discussion with Shoshana Bryen
clear

by Jerry Gordon (December 2016)

The Trump Administration faces compelling issues in the roiling Middle East upon inauguration on January 21, 2017. Many of these involve allies in the region like Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf emirates. They are compounded by Putin’s actions in Syria, Iran and its proxy Hezbollah in the Syrian conflict.  more>>>

After the Liberation of Mosul
clear

by Samir Yousif[1] (December 2016)

The "Islamic State" is nothing but a paper tiger. That is the summary of the one month war between the Iraqi Army and ISIL in the north of Iraq. The strength of the terrorists was demonstrated, with no mercy, against women and children and other civilians. The population in areas taken by ISIL, two years ago, were simply taken by surprise. more>>>

Democrats: Electorate Unheeded, Lessons Unlearned
clear

by Lorna Salzman (December 2016)

There is no good side to European mass immigration unless you truly believe that there is no such thing as culture, or that culture should be sacrificed for “higher” goals, defined not by citizens but their leaders. The religion of Islam long ago settled this question through its principle of religious unity across the world, in which the concept of nationalism or any other identity has been erased in favor of the umma, i.e. the unity of all Muslims through their religion. This is of course identical to the international left that arose from communism, in which the working class was seen as the international unifying entity, superseding national, ethnic or religious identities.  more>>>

Breaking the Siege of 2017 Before It Begins

by Geoffrey Botkin (December 2016)

Some fifty million supporters of Donald Trump are waiting, eagerly, for the President’s January offensive. They want to see Trump be Trump, officially. The fight of the century, for which they voted themselves front-line seats, is the war on political correctness. They want to see Trump take this war to the enemy from the Bully Pulpit -- to see the-world-as-the-globalists-know-it to come to a crashing end. They want their nation back.  more>>>

Giving Thanks: Donald Trump’s Top Ten
clear

by G. Murphy Donovan (December 2016)

There are many things that can be said about the election of Donald Trump and most will probably get said before 20 January 17. Beyond an unlikely candidacy and an even more surprising election, Trump, long before inauguration, is an overachiever on many fronts. Indeed, a “Reelect Trump” bumper sticker was spotted in Easton, Maryland just a day after the election. Here are the top ten things Trump has already accomplished before his first term begins.  more>>>

At the Prado
clear

by Theodore Dalrymple (December 2016)

The most beautiful great art gallery in the world (to my taste) is the Prado in Madrid. By now I know it well enough to be able to go straight to my favourite paintings there, which gives me the same kind of consolation as reading a favourite poem. Those are the paintings which never stale, at least for me, however familiar they become.  more>>>

Identitarians Place Giant Islamic Veil On Iconic Maria Theresa Statue
clear

Breitbart is the first English language report that I can find.

The hipster-right Identitarian youth movement has placed a full face veil on one of Vienna’s most well known statues to protest what they see as the Islamisation of Austria.

The full face veil was placed on the 65 foot high statue to protest, what the group says in the growing Islamisation of Austria and included a sign at the foot of the statue reading, “Islamisation? No thanks.

The protest is the latest by the group who in recent months have hung signs against mass migration on the top of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate and climbed the famous Burgtheater in Vienna.

German intelligence officer 'arrested over Islamist plot' raising fears the spy agency has been infilitrated
clear

From The Telegraph

A German intelligence officer has reportedly been arrested over a suspected Islamist plot to bomb the agency's headquarters in Cologne.

The 51-year-old official was said to have made a "partial confession" to the plot, according to Der Spiegel.

"He is accused of making Islamist remarks online under a false name, and offering internal information during chats," a BfV spokeswoman told AFP. The suspect has, since April, been engaged in gathering intelligence on the Islamist scene in Germany, Der Spiegel said.

Online chats were apparently found between the suspect and other Islamists in which he attempted to recruit them to the intelligence agency to mount an attack on "non-believers".

The man's family reportedly knew nothing of his conversion to Islam and subsequent radicalisation
