Boy, 11, pepper-sprayed by cops at migrant hotel protest. Young mother arrested for hanging Union Jack

It’s not been a good evening for migrant hotel protesters in London/Essex so far.

I have been following the protests for several hours. I’ll start with a mainstream newspaper, The Express, because their report accords with what I noticed on X from commentators I regard as reliable.

The Met Police pepper sprayed a child during anti-migrant protests in Canary Wharf, London. Officers were assaulted by a protester inside a shopping centre and the individual was arrested by officers who used PAVA spray. The boy was accidentally sprayed as well given the “density of the crowds in the area”, the Met Police said.

This comes after footage online has seen disorder break out in a shopping centre in Canary Wharf, close to the sight of the Britannia Hotel which has been earmarked as a potential asylum accommodation site. The Metropolitan Police have issued a section 60AA order to quell disorder in the Isle of Dogs.

A witness on X said: “Disgusting scenes in Canary Wharf with Police pepper spraying children. Absolutely appalling behaviour from an out of control police force. Deliberately targeting children is outrageous.”

The Met Police have responded with the following statement: “Officers witnessed an assault by a protester on a member of the public inside Canary Wharf shopping centre. The suspect was immediately arrested by officers who used PAVA spray. (a bit economical that statement, there are video clips on X if you wish)  We are aware other protesters and members of the public may have been temporarily affected by the use of PAVA given the density of the crowds in the area.”

Other people “temporarily affected” include a shopping centre security guard,

70 year old Lorainne Cavanagh OBE, leader of the Pink Ladies and Chief Executive of the Docklands Settlement (one of the numerous community missions set up in the East End during the 19th century; they still do great work in the community today) Jack Hadfield sometimes of GB News and citizen journalists Young Bob and AY Audits.

There is film of the incident. The officer who used the spray is described as ‘not as calm as his colleagues’

The day started quite well. Follow this link to film of local men using paddle boats and canoes up the dock to get to the back of the Britannia Hotel so as to hang some England and Union flags, to the consternation of the migrants within.

The protest in Epping was scheduled for later, 6pm. My husband was following that one. Jack Hadfield AY Audits and Bob made their way there to report.  And again the police, this time Essex Police not the Met, were very heavy handed. The protesters marched from the Bell Hotel up the High Street to the Town Hall where leaders addressed the crowd.

There, as Jack Hadfield reports

Protest leader @ReformSarah  held up a Union Jack on the steps of the council offices in Epping, after marching from the Bell Hotel. Instead of leaving her there, police dragged her down and arrested her, causing the crowd outside the council to erupt in anger

Sarah is respected locally, had made a speech earlier and given an interview on GB News this morning.

There’s another video here from a slightly different angle and in close up. Note how many officers to manhandle one slightly built woman, and note the contempuous way one rips the flag he/she serves to one side as they do so.

Another leader, Callum was arrested a few minutes later and it is believed is charged with “allegedly being charged with incitement to racial hatred”. His “crime”, as witnessed by  Jack Hadfield was moving a step towards the police van as Sarah was arrested. As he was handcuffed he was defiant calling out “Liberate England” I can embed some videos but not others. Follow the links – this is an eye-opener for those new to this struggle.

The protestors were then escorted by the police down the High Street, not to the Hotel but a field nearby, and eventually dispersed from there.

As a comment I shall keep anonymous said

All done to make an example of the prominent individuals and put the fear of God
into anyone who wants to peacefully protest. Keep roaring, Epping!
