Bret Stephens: The Ferguson Fiasco
With the DOJ unable to find anything wrong with Officer Darren Wilson’s conduct, but unwilling to dwell on this (it was dealt with quickly at Eric Holder’s press conference), the Department of Justice decided to do everything it could to minimize that finding and instead Eric Holder spent most of his time presenting what he considered to be certain evidence, that is a massive compilation designed to overwhelm, so that those receiving that evidence would not bother to distinguish what was real from what was exaggerated or anecdotal and, in some cases, even imaginary, all in the service of creating the charge of “systemic” problems in Ferguson (and, bien entendu, all over the land).
