Five men face sentencing for their roles in the sexual exploitation of a teenage girl

From the Sheffield Star, the older of the two cases I have mentioned as news was available recently.

Sheffield Crown Court heard during a nine-week trial how nine men had pleaded not guilty to rape charges concerning the same teenage girl between September, 2010, and December, 2012.

Peter Hampton, prosecuting, said the complainant complained in 2011 but South Yorkshire Police did not investigate until five years after they had first been informed. Mr Hampton added the convicted defendants abused and exploited the girl while she was vulnerable following a troubled childhood when she had been referred to social services.

The below five defendants were found guilty of various related offences:

Nzar Anwar, 40, of Exeter Drive, Sheffield – one count of rape and one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice

Saba Mohammed, 41, of Faranden Road, Sheffield – one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice;

Kawan Omar Ahmed, 31, of Margate Drive, Sheffield – two counts of rape;

Shangar Ibrahimi, 30, of HMP Hull – one count of rape;

Jasim Mohammed, 37, of Maxwell Way, Sheffield – three counts of repeated offences of rape.

The five convicted defendants will be sentenced on March 13.

Not guilty verdicts were returned on the following defendants: Usman Din, Tony Juone, Kamaran Mahmoodi, Farhad Mirzaie and Saman Mohammed.
