Husband and wife Westfield bombing plotters jailed for life

From the Newham Recorder – Westfield shopping centre, the potential murder site, is in their area. And Get Reading – the traitors lived in reading.

Would-be suicide bomber Mohammed Rehman, 25, was sentenced today at the Old Bailey to life with a minimum of 27 years for plotting a terror attack in London to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the July 7 bombings.

Rehman’s ex-wife Sana Ahmed Khan, 24, who helped to fund the mass murder plot, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years.

Going by the name Silent Bomber, Islamic extremist Mohammed Rehman, 25, took to Twitter in May asking for suggestions on which target to choose, a Westfield shopping centre – one of which is in Stratford – or the Tube.

Mr Justice Baker, sentencing, told Rehman: ‘You may never be released from custody, and will only be when the parole board is sure it is no longer necessary for the protection of the public that you are confined.’

He told Khan she could also spent the rest of her life behind bars if she does not renounce her support for Islamic State ‘

The judge recognised that the plot was at a ‘relatively advanced stage’ and if successful would have resulted in multiple casualties. ‘I’m sure not only were you seeking to use Twitter to recruit those similarly determined to further the aims of Islamic State by carrying out suicide bombings, you wanted to do the same in central London in the types of locations you sought advice about from fellow Twitter users’, he said.

Evidence showed Khan, who has a degree in English from the University of Greenwich, in southeast London, had been funding the bomb factory with her wages and by taking out payday loans.

In a letter to the judge after her conviction, Khan begged for forgiveness and blamed ‘abusive’ Rehman for the terror plot.  ‘I implore you to have mercy when considering my sentence. I would not do anything to get myself in this position again, my only focus is to make amends with my family and have a fresh start in life. Please accept my apologies.’

However the judge said in his sentencing remarks that he rejected most of the contents of the letter.

Both will serve the minimum sentences before being considered for release. Rehman was sentenced to 12 years concurrently for the second charge he was convicted of.
