And read the comments, so many of them so well-written and so dismally enlightening.

Again, Hugh, you have me marshaling my gap filled, wobbly knowledge of French. But the piece was worth the effort.
A question, Hugh. How widespread is Rioufol and Val’s understanding of the threat becoming in France?
Brush up your French as well as your Shakespeare. It’s good for you. I don’t have my finger on the pulse of the French nation. All those who think must know of, and many read, Ivan Rioufol. I was first put on to him by J. B. Kelly, who retired to Albi, and said that “there is one man — Ivan Rioufol — who knows what’s what.” That was how I was introduced. As for Manuel Valls, he is the most popular man in the Socialist Party, but that party seems incapable of suppressing its impossible nasty left. It’s too bad Valls doesn’t leave that party, join the UMP, and promise, whatever his other views, to rival the FN in suppressing Muslim immigration and reversing the Muslim presence. It has to be done, done all over the Western world, for the sake of intelligent survival.
