Matt Schiavenza: False Equivalences In Islamic Republic’s Cartoons

One Response

  1. Not a bad article, but it falls apart somewhat when he claims France’s Muslims have long suffered from marginalization.

The practice of self-segregation so many of the country’s Muslims engage in, so as not to be too close to the ‘impure’, isn’t marginalization at all. It’s behavior driven by racist and supremacist sentiments on the part of Muslims, and not the French.

If you insist on voluntarily segregating yourself off from the larger society, then you can’t possibly call your condition one of marginalization.
