Obama Shares A Light-Hearted Moment With A Friend

  1. Will Obama make a side trip to Jeddah? I’m sure Raif Badawi could use his support. We all know that Obama, being president of the U.S. – whose founders fought and died for the freedom of speech – will do all that he can to uphold the right of everyone, everywhere, to practice this basic freedom. He will do this, won’t he?

  2. It’s not only Obama: All American presidents have shown fealty to the Saudis. Why? Money is honey baby, and all these politicians know they won’t have to “scrape by” on a couple hundred thousand a year after they leave office if they play nice with their Arab masters. There are foundations to endow (see one Jimmy Carter) ,and honoraria to lay claim to, and it adds up to tens of millions of steady income that makes a book deal worth a couple of million seem paltry by comparison. The hope that 911 as well as the over 20,000 Islamic inspired attacks SINCE 911 might change this dynamic never materialized. In fact, Bush was closer to the Saudis after 911. And as for Obama, he behaves as if the Saudis have a lasso knot tied around his private parts. All except for Iran of course. He can’t give the Saudis what they want on that score because if he were to take a hard line on Iran, this would contradict his anti-Israel bonafides. Now the Saudis are dumping oil at absurdly low prices to stick it to Iran and Russia, and also put the kibosh on alternative energy sources. The infidels now wallowing in ridiculously cheap oil are even less likely to confront the Saudis over their pious support for the ideology of Islam. These is hard times indeed.
