Photo of Utrecht shooting suspect Gokman Tanis released – Netherlands put on ‘highest terror alert’

Three people have been killed following a shooting on a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht, the city’s mayor says. Nine others were injured in the incident which police say appears to be a terrorist attack.

Police in the Netherlands have released a photograph of suspected gunman Gokman Tanis following the deadly attack on a tram in a residential area of Utrecht.

Tanis, aged 37, is believed to have been born in Turkey. The public were urged not to approach him.

According to one media report the man had recently been on trial on a rape charge.
