Police arrest 44 people in connection with child sexual abuse in Kirklees

And next, from the Dewsbury Reporter and the Huddersfield Examiner

Detectives investigating non-recent allegations of child sexual abuse in Kirklees have arrested 44 people.

Thirty-six men and three women were arrested from addresses across Kirklees, Bradford and Leeds over the last two weeks. Five other men were arrested at the end of last year in connection with the same investigation.

The suspects are aged between 39 and 81 years old. All of the 44 people arrested have been interviewed and released under investigation. None of those arrested are from Huddersfield.

The investigation centres on allegations made by four women of sexual abuse committed against them as children predominantly in the Dewsbury and Batley area of Kirklees between 1995 and 2002.

No names until they are charged and have made a first appearance at the Magistrates Court.
