Religious groups defend MP Sarah Champion over grooming claim

This morning a very apposite letter was published in the Times, with an article to accompany it.

Signed by Lord Singh of Wimbledon, Network of Sikh Organisations; Mohan Singh, Sikh Awareness Society; Wilson Chowdhry, British Pakistani Christian Association; Satish Sharma, National Council of Hindu Temples; Anil Bhanot, Hindu Council UK; Trupti Patel, Hindu Forum of Britain; Ashish Joshi, Sikh Media Monitoring Group it commended Sarah Champion and Amina Lone for speaking up about a clear criminal trend, the largely Muslim and Pakistani background of men convicted of sexual grooming cases. The mention the incidences of abuse against Sikh, Hindu and Christian girls and emphasis that the common denominator is that victims almost always tend to be non-Muslim girls.they are dismayed at the weak response of the Labour leader. They are not willing to see the victims sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

This is the report, pointing readers to the letters page.

  1. That is excellent news. Good to see the Sikhs and Hindus teaming up with the BPCA.
A pity that all the major Christian denominations in the UK are not also co-signing this letter!
Perhaps a copy of the letter should be sent to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and to the head of MU in the UK. I am a bit surprised that Barnabas Fund (UK) have not also added their voice.
