Russians & Trump

by Richard Kostelanetz

Does anyone really believe that Putin, et al, preferred Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton?

They’d done biz with her while Trump seemed not only unfamiliar but unpredictable, as indeed he’s been. They’d learned that her judgments could be purchased.

I’d sooner accept a contrary hypothesis that Russian officials tried to support Hillary but their efforts backfired, much like Obama’s attempt to turn the Israeli electorate against Bibi N., resulting in comeuppance.

All purported journalistic discoveries on this theme, especially with the citing of unnamed sources whose claims cannot be verified, smack of fake news. To my gullibility there are limits.

Why are Hillary apologists slow to recognized that one reason why she lost is that many people don’t like having their intelligence insulted. Still don’t.

  1. Your hypothesis would be more credible if members of Hillary Clinton’s team had multiple relationships with the Russians. This, however, turns out not to be the case. Which leaves me wondering why you would even make the suggestion.

  2. Check out Uranium One – Hilary did a deal with Russia – US uranium to Russia, money to ? where I wonder? Maybe that’s what the handshake is about.
