Something autumnal

I thought I’d better take this quickly, during a break between showers, as last night’s high winds took a lot of leaves off the trees and these colours won’t last much longer. A mere suburban hedge that I always admire at this time of year.

  1. October, November by Time beguiled
In your season you’re Winter’s child.
Thy ripened leaves first blaze. then fall
Layering food for next Spring’s call.
Birds on wing sing and sail
Before soon arriving frost and hail.

  2. That sounds like an extract from a longer poem, and a lovely one at that. I don’t recognise it, but is it Robert Frost?

  3. Perhaps you’re thinking of Robert Frost’s poem, “October.”
My rhyme is more a salute to life and its parts to the continuing whole. Kind of an atitude of gratitude.
    Thank you.

  4. Cycles in time, the seasons flow, as
leaves in Autumn, sun-dappled, dance and glow.
Paint their selves in blazing shades — and
as night time grows, daytime fades.

And you and I pause to speak and smile (perhaps to even hug awhile), before it’s time to go.
    Blessings.
