From the Telegraph
British counter-terror police have blocked a video game that allows players to recreate Hamas’s Oct 7 attacks on Israel.
The authorities intervened last month by ordering Steam, an online video game marketplace, to remove Fursan al-Aqsa: The Knights of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from its UK store.
The game drew the attention of terror police because it included scenes of players paragliding into an Israeli army base and killing soldiers.
Although the game does not refer to Hamas directly, a trailer displays Israeli soldiers being shot in the head by terrorists wearing green Hamas-style headbands.
The game’s trailer included text asking: “Where are those who carry the explosive belts? I want an explosive belt to blow up myself over the Zionists!”
An earlier version of the game had also allowed players to control Hamas-style terrorists, although a recent update introduced a scene appearing to depict the Oct 7 attacks.
According to 404 Media, which first reported the ban, the game also featured a terrorist cutting off an Israeli soldier’s head and kicking it into the air.
Despite being blocked in Austria, Germany and the UK, the video game remains on sale in the US for $14.99 (£11.96).
Nidal Nijm, the game’s Brazilian-Palestinian creator, said that the game “allows you to relive the iconic day on which the brave Palestinian resistance humiliated Israeli military forces”.
