When Donald Trump last month put climate change on the backburner during the Paris Accord, many non-Green small business owners breathed a sigh of relief. (Remember, the Accord is not mandatory and final. It’s a pledge; and many pledges in the history of politics are broken if not ‘pragmatically’ altered.) more>>>

  1. Hogwash and balderdash. The left is to blame for all the woes of small business? PUHHHHLLLLEASE: the left isn’t even in power in the EU much less the US. The economic policies of both continents have been purely (and viciously) neo liberal for decades. If capitalism isn’t the ultimate culprit (which I think it is), it is certain that the proximate culprit is neo liberalism and globalization. It’s time to retire that off-key tune that uses the term “overregulation” as often and as inappropriately as the left overuses the term “racism”. Enough already. No on is listening any more to the paleocons who see their “free market” failing and want to blame all those who have been absent from the scene for their troubles. The left itself has been absent forever and with good reason. In the end the public is not so stupid as to be blind to the lies of the left or the right. This deserves to be stuffed into a wood stove.

  3. Kenneth,

I for one appreciated your article. It’s easy for me to dismiss Ms. Saltzman’s rebuttal. Your focus on jobs and job-creation is smart and really shows that you get it. Trump’s focus on jobs and deregulation are some of the many reasons why he was elected. <p> Citizens without jobs and with limited opportunity to acquire jobs are generally unhappy and contribute much less to the society than they would prefer. Meaningful work for anyone who wishes to have it is a core component of a successful society. Trump, as a businessman and employer himself, fully understands this important need. Well done!
