This will surprise a lot of people : Oil reserves

I don’t know how accurate this chart is but if it is to be believed, Venezuela has the largest reserves and yet the country is broke and its major cities are shitholes. So corrupt, that all of the oil has been presold on the international markets before it comes out of the ground. The regular citizens don’t see a dime of it in social programs, or any sign of improvement in their lives.

My own Canada’s population sees virtually no benefits from  their huge oil reserves and we have more than Iraq. But we can’t get it to market because of a stupid Green Government and a fractious set of Indian Bands who want their very own kleptocracy  ( and you can’t have two kleptocracies)

Taxes, user fees and immigration costs have  skyrocketed (my own property taxes have doubled in the past ten years) over the past decade, to the point where it’s no longer attractive for educated and trade skilled Europeans to emigrate.

We’re left with the flotsam and jetsam who, of course, get in for nothing, get welfare assistance and housing while they hide their money back home and still cause most of the unrest. They only bring in their own money after the benefits run out.

If Canada freed up its energy resources, and kept it out of corrupt hands, nobody would have to pay income taxes (just like most of the Emirates) and we’d become a much more attractive country for middle class immigrants  ( and we need them because our birth rate is turning negative.)

You don’t even have to make a comment on Nigeria and what’s done with the money from its massive  holdings. Just watch a you tube video on Lagos and all of your questions will be answered.

At least the Saudis and the Emirates have glittering cities to show.

Iran and Iraq could be flowing with riches if they could get the  religious nutcases out of power.. such a great sadness because Irani and Iraqi normal people have  the nicest and most hospitable culture. Islam, as day-to-day people practice it, produces a polite, respectful and considerate population . Unfortunately the crazies/lunatics run the show at the highest levels so the population themselves are hostages to them.

The main problem is that there is no central authority or guidance for the Muslim religion, all the nutters are freelancers.

As for the rest of our western reserves … how come we have allowed our cities to fall into disgraceful neglect, how come the kakistocracy (and most of them ARE totally inept) has watched, without action, every pillar of our society  collapse into a wretched and unfixable mess? Where has the oil money gone?

You don’t see homeless camps on the sidewalks in Saudi Arabia, you don’t see druggies and beggars in Qatar. Why? because they address the problem and there’s severe consequences for disobeying the law

You don’t see litter on the streets in Middle Eastern cities (or far Eastern Cities with ZERO  oil revenues for that matter) Why? because they dedicate clean up resources to every single night it and educate their children at school about their social responsibilities regarding the cleanliness of their towns.

The traditional view of the world has changed so much in the past 20 years, those who were third world countries in the middle and far east can now be considered “first world ” countries while ours are a picture of decay and hopelessness.
