Ukip protest banned from London borough with large Muslim population

Bear in mind that UKIP are an official political party that have had MPs sitting in Parliament, although none at the moment. Other earlier demonstrations in other towns were well attended and made their point peacably; but I did wonder about the proposed event in Whitechapel this weekend, mindful of the occasions other groups have tried to protest.

A Ukip demonstration has been banned from an area with a large Muslim population because of a “realistic prospect of serious disorder”, police say.

The event was initially advertised as a march from Whitechapel station in east London, but later revised to be an assembly in the same area.

It was originally due to take place on Saturday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police.

It was part of a series of events across the UK promoted as a “mass deportations tour”, with organisers calling on attendees to “reclaim Whitechapel from the Islamists”, the force said.

A significant counter protest was also expected, organised by Stand Up To Racism and a number of local groups.

Public Order Act conditions have now been imposed meaning UKIP cannot hold their protest in Whitechapel or anywhere else in the borough of Tower Hamlets.

Commander Nick John, who is in charge of the public order policing operation in London this weekend, said: “Tower Hamlets has the largest percentage of Muslim residents anywhere in the UK and the prospect of this protest taking place in the heart of the borough has been the cause of significant concern locally.

“It is our assessment that there is a realistic prospect of serious disorder if it was to go ahead in the proposed location. This is in addition to the disruption that two large protests taking place on a key arterial route through east London would cause.

“We have a responsibility to use the powers available to us to take steps to avoid both those outcomes.

“UKIP are free to organise their protest in an alternative location but they will not be holding it in Tower Hamlets.

Officers from the Met’s Protest Liaison Team remain willing to engage with the organisers if they bring forward a proposal for an event in an alternative location.

So West Midland’s police wil not allow fans of Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv because they cannot guarantee safety from the Muslim mob of Birmingham, and the Metropolitan police have banned UKIP (even from a static rally which the EDL were allowed in 2011 and 2013) because  they can’t handle unrest from the Muslim mob of Tower Hamlets and their handmaidens and the dhimmi slave army of SuTR. But they facilitate weekly hate marches in support of Hamas. 

Writing on X, mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman said the Ukip demonstration “would have caused significant disruption and intimidation in our local community, and spread fear and prejudice”.

He said: “We will still hold our peaceful march in Whitechapel on Saturday to celebrate our diversity and unity. From the Battle of Cable Street to today, the far right has never succeeded in dividing our community and they never will.”

They do like to hijack working class history. The Battle of Cable Street (9 years ago this month – my dad and uncle were there) was in defence of London’s Jewis community.

As I said in 2011 in 1936 my parent’s generation stood against the blackshirts. Today we stand against the blackflags and black veils of Islam. 

The march will now take place up the West End
