Why Hillary Failed?

by Richard Kostelanetz

Doubly pained I am to see Hillary Clinton’s supporters flailing around to uncover one or another discreditable reason for her losing the last presidential election, because most of them are patently fictitious. For instance, while some Russians might have made devious moves of one sort or another, no one offers to explain how that might have changed voters in in certain key states. Nor have I read a credible explanation for why the greatly demonic Vladimir Putin should have preferred Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton. Now that that charge has been discredited, I’m waiting to hear and then see disseminated some ludicrous story about Trumpian gremlins’ tampering with phases of the moon.

Whom the Clintonistas don’t blame are those people, not only in her immediate circle but in the media that she respected, who told the world and thus Hillary that she would surely win and thus didn’t need to campaign where she should have. Precisely by failing to look into themselves, Clintonistas demonstrate a smug resistance to truth that now and later can be costly.

Should you want to consider a deeper conspiracy, consider identifying the double agents, so to speak, putatively working for Clinton and media predisposed to Clinton–cunning characters who last October persuaded the gullible Clintonistas that their victory would come easily. Such directed research, devoid of distractions, would uncover some interesting truths. Dollars to donuts may I wager that these conspirators weren’t Russians.

Will we discover some people murdered as suspiciously as the sometime DNC staffer Seth Rich?

  1. No bodies will *ever* be laid at the Clinton doors. Not even Vince Foster…the numbers are large enough to rate their own cemetery.
