I am pleased to have found some very good quality music for this Advent calendar so far; Cathedral and College choirs, world renowned Opera tenors, excellent and accomplished folk musicians. But sometimes one just wants to let down one’s hair and bop.
I bet you thought glam rock died in 1976 with the advent of punk?
Wrong!
It just went quiet and then burst out of Lowestoft on England’s east coast in the early part of this 21st century under the name The Darkness
This is their Chrsitmas hit, Christmas Time (Don’t let the Bells End).
Looking it up it is already 17 years old. Time flies. It was another piece of senerdipity that lead me to this. Over the summer when rules were relaxed enough to permit building work I had a window replaced, which meant clearing out a corner of the back room (only another three corners to tidy). Under a rather heavy cupboard that is rarely moved I found a copy of their debut CD. Husband and daughter deny ownership, therefore it must be mine.
