Advent Calendar 23rd December

I have posted about Mousehole in Cornwall for previous Advent Calendars. Tom Bawcock’s Eve in 2007, the loss of the Solomon Browne lifeboat and the crew and passengers of the Union Star they were trying to rescue in 2008, the children’s book and film The Mousehole Cat in 2010. 

This is some video taken by a local man earlier this month of the switching on of the Mousehole Harbour Christmas lights. 

It starts with the celtic cross on St Clement’s Island, later you should see the starry gazy pie, the cat, the whale and serpent. On 19th December all the lights except the cross are dimmed for an hour in memory of the men and women lost in that terrible storm of 1981.
