An Introduction To The Thought (And Feelings, And Heated Prose) Of Omid Safi

From Temple, to Chapel Hill, and now that appetizing thing, full professor and Director of the Islamic Studies Center at Duke University, Omid Safi churns out prose that has something in common with that of Hamid Dashabi, whose Ode To Edward Said you no doubt remember or, put otherwise, have been unable to forget.

  1. I clicked on the link. I read what Omid Safi had to say…oh, dear.

Then I read the Comments he had attracted. Hmmmm. He had a pretty substantial cheer squad, with noms de plume pretty much what you would expect. (And a certain Linda Sarsour, whom I believe you have discussed on other occasions, put in an appearance). But he didn’t get it all his own way. A couple of grimly Islamosavvy Frends of Zion walked in and upset the applecart, but good.
