Armed Protesters Plan Another Demonstration at Texas Mosque

Bob Price writes at Breitbart:

The group that organized the armed protest at a mosque in Irving, Texas, in November looks to hold another protest.

This protest is scheduled for December 12 at a mosque in Richardson, Texas. The organization received criticism last week for reveling the names and addresses of Muslims and others who opposed the city of Irving’s support of a Texas legislature bill to ban Sharia law from Texas courts.

The Bureau of Islamic-American Relations (BAIR) announced the December 12 protest early Tuesday morning on its Facebook page. David Wright III founded the group and also posts about the Irving mosque on his Facebook page.

BAIR hosted a group of armed protesters who stood outside of the Irving mosque on November 21. Dozens of people openly carried rifles. At least one person appeared to also be openly carrying a pistol, which is still illegal in Texas, in most cases, until the new law goes into effect next month. A few days after the meeting, Wright published the names and addresses of Muslims and supporters who spoke at a March 19 city council meeting in Irving.

In calling for the second protest in Richardson, BAIR posted, “We do not pick mosques at random.” The group claims the Richardson mosque has a “documented history” of taking in Syrian refugees and working with “terrorist front groups like CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations).”

“They are Sunni Muslims that have taken over the entire neighborhood and even renamed streets after the Islamic culture,” Wright posted on the event page. “Do I need to say anymore?”

Wright appears to be drawing scrutiny for his actions — particularly for releasing list of names and addresses last week. Talking Points Memo reported that Write posted on his Facebook page, “I am being attacked and smeared by the liberal media for legally exercising my 1st and 2nd Amendment rights and for using public data to defend my credibility when they make accusations against me.” The comments are no longer on his page.

The Washington Times posted Wright’s entire comment:

I am being attacked and smeared by the liberal media for legally exercising my 1st and 2nd Amendment rights and for using public data to defend my credibility when they make accusations against me. I guess they don’t like it when you prove them wrong publicly. If we had a hit list and wanted to run down that list, you would have already seen it on the news. We don’t operate that way!! We are self defense only, none of our members have killed any Muslims in America! The list I posted was proof that the Muslims in Irving want their own Islamic legal system, (Sharia) just as I told the reporters at the Mosque protest. This is what happens when you play favoritism as a journalist, you cause problems and stir up controversy by twisting a story, lying and omitting facts to fit your narrative as a team player for one side or another. I would have had no reason to produce this list in my own defense if you would have told the story honestly without bias or blatant favoritism. So to those on the list who feel betrayed or targeted don’t blame me or the Mayor of Irving, blame the media for playing games of favoritism instead of reporting the news!

Wright did not create this list of names and addresses. The names and addresses of all who speak at any Irving city council meeting are public record and are posted on the city’s website. The Washington Times did not report this. They also did not report that Wright did not post just the names and addresses of Muslims and Muslim supporters who opposed the City of Irving’s March resolution. The list also contained the names and addresses of those who supported the city’s action, Breitbart Texas previously reported.

The Dallas region that includes Irving, Richardson, and Garland has become the epicenter of conflict between Muslims and other Americans. One incident has followed another in the region beginning with Breitbart Texas’ revelation of an “Islamic Tribunal” in Irving. This was followed by the Irving city council’s resolution supporting the Texas legislature for attempting to pass an “American Laws for American Courts” bill. In May, Breitbart Texas was in the building when two Islamic terrorists attacked the Mohammed Art Exhibit and Contest in Garland, Texas. And, in October, Breitbart Texas reported on protesters outside the same Richardson mosque where the Dec. 12 protest is scheduled.

More fuel was added to the fire in September when “Clock Boy” Ahmed Mohammed was arrested at McArthur High School in Irving for bringing a “homemade” clock to school. Officials became concerned that the “clock” resembled a suitcase bomb and might have been a hoax. Breitbart Texas reported extensively on the ensuing escapades of “Clock Boy” Ahmed as he traveled around the world.
